Don't know where else to post this.

I have a pair of intercoms to communicate between kitchen and shed. The sort that transmit through the ring main.

They have worked well for a number of years until the other day when they started playing up. I tried another channel and all was well.

They started playing up half an hour ago. Got steady worse until they will only work if plugged into the same 13amp socket.

Are they (or one of them) knackered?

Short of using a crystal ball it's hard to say...

Could you define 'playing up' and go into a little more detail about the problem etc..

Thanks for your reply intheknow.

First of all the 'call button' only seemed to work in one direction and when speaking there was a lot of background buzzing in one direction.

Within a few minutes the 'call button' would not work in either direction and speach could not be heard in one direction (no speach, no buzzing, just scilence).

I moved both units into the kitchen. Although the 'call buttons' seemed not to work, distorted speach worked in both directions. But within a few more minutes they stopped working completely.

But they still both work perfectly if plugged into the same 13amp socket.

My thoughts are to simply buy another pair from Maplin. I might be lucky and only one of the originals is faulty. In which case I will end up with a three way system. Put one in the bedroom and so to call the wife to make me a cuppa !!
