Anill, two things I can say

1. ATI DVD player is buggy, I find some special "features"
2. pcFriendly has ever more "features" and also it will try to steal control of the DVD in the player from your ATI Player

You could try WinDVD, many people say that is the best player. And do what I do when you get the pcFriendly install prompt - Cancel it!!

PowerDVD is also worth a try. v3.0 is excellent.
