How Capt. Jack gets cured?
Hot Dogg
17-06-2007
With all the big stuff going on last night (Utopia) did anyone notice the solution for the on-going Capt. Jack immortality problem?

Look again at Jacks face when Martha tells the Doctor about the Professors watch and they do the 'ol explanation of the Chamaeleon Arch.

Suspect Jack will use the Arch to make himself Fully Human again. This solves the Torchwood script writers problem of not being able to put Jack in any real peril!

Whaddya think?

because so far it has been said tht it can only be used on time lords

Just a thought, as his Immortality was caused by the energy from the heart of the Tardis. . .

the doctor could rebuild the device and cure jack

I was wondering if they could tie it in with the problem of the Doctor nearing the end of his regenerations cycle, somehow the Doctor 'cures' Jack and at the same time gains either endless regenerations or another cycle? Just a thought.

Good thinking! That would help get round the fact that the Doc has only a few regenerations left.
I recall reading somewhere that RTD was looking for a solution to the Doctors few remaining regenerations.
There was crazy talk about killing the Doctor off and having his son take over!

Yes, the son idea would go down like a lead balloon with fans, could you imagine the outcry? That's why I thought it may be a neat way of tying up the regeneration question.

So it's the Arch or one of the Doctors "special kisses" then.

Any other theories?
I only ask as, for me, the fact of Jacks immortality made it too easy to escape any dire consequences in Torchwood .
And if you can't put your hero in real jeopardy why would you care about him?

To be honest, much as I love Jack in DW, Torchwood left me cold - I watched the first few episodes then gave up and only tuned back in for the last episode.

-edit- ps. my bet is on the special kiss!

Cut him in half, let the two halves grow their other halves back, and then Jack can go and live happily ever after with himself as his other half.

A cunning plan mr Slug!
