I am having trouble with recordings made on the R149 DVD-RW not playing back on any other machine, other than the one it was recorded on?

I tried to play back on a brand new Philips machine that stated it could play all formats including dvd-rw but all I get is an 'Unknown Disk' error message?

Is there a compatability issue between Samsung and other manufacturers or am I doing something wrong? To prove a point, a played a dvd-r recorded by a friend in the Philips machine and it played OK.

I tried finalising the dvd-rw too, but this did not help either.

Samsung tech help said I should try using another Samsung player but this is just more expense - I cannot help thinking that there is a setting that I can tweak to make this work, yet the user manual offers little guidance and is rather user un-friendly.

Any thoughts?

it could simply be the choice of discs you are using

try recording on another make

try putting it in your computer
