Thinking of buying the newly released super zoom Fuji FinePix S5700 - anyone have experience of this model or is it to new? Virtually no reviews anywhere.

I have heard that it isn't as good as its predecessor the S5600, which I do have and it extremely good

That's very odd as it's basically the exact same model as yours but with a few extra whistles and bells - bit like a car model range e.g. S and SE. Thanks for your response though - if yours is great the new model will be too so think I will go for it.

I always thought the replacement to the S5600 was the S6500... But anyway, I think the S6500 is a better camera, I'd choose it for the mechanical zoom anyday.

S5700 reviews.

No it's the S5700 - I'd agree with you on the manual zoom though, however, what goes against the 6500 for me is the size and weight (getting up to digital SLR sizes with 6500 whereas the 5700 is a good compromise) and the fact that it only takes XD cards. The new S5700 is the first Fuji camera to take both XD and SD cards which is a real plus.
