Home hub phone or cheap one?
Decided that we will get a phone to go with the BT home hub... I don't know whether or not to go for the BT home phone or a cheap one from Tesco etc.
Is the BT phone worth the money or is it just that price because it complements the hub? Will a cheap digital phone do the job as well? Ta |

An ordinary DECT (digital cordless) phone will work and can be paired with the home hub.

I can't have a phone that needs to sit in the bay by the hub to work. I would just like to have a phone at the other end of the house, that can just charge from where it's located without the need for another phone line connection. All the ones that I have seen seem to require you to keep the phone in the holder, which will have to be by the hub |

Anyway, if you get another DECT handset and pod charger, it sounds like you could register it with the hub and then locate the pod charger anywhere you liked in the house. |

Only for charging - the batteries will normally allow a DECT handset to be off charge for about 3 days.

Yes you can do as Heinz says. I had a DECT handset registered to the HUB and it was fine, you don't need a base station as the hub is one. I have a hub phone but they are expensive for what they are, although you can pick one up on ebay for a lot less.
Is it worth spending this much or just going for a £15 one? How much will the call quality etc suffer? One final point, I tried my main corded phone and connected it to the hub but I get quite a loud buzz in the background, the actual voice is fine but the constant buzz once I dial a number is really annoying, I'm not near anything that could cause intereference. Could it be that I need a main phone connected to the phone line as well? thanks for your help |

Right...this is still my concern. In this pic, you can see that there is the phone line connection - I don't want this do I I assume this is a base station as well, I just want the single stand-alone phone right? Thanks for the link heinz, I think I know what I want now |
