Hi i have a samsung le40m87 and despite constant tweeking the settings the pictures seem a little soft and washed out. Some of the skin tones seem a little pink and slightly and i mean very slightly blurry. My freeview settings seem fine but when using sky hd the pictures go the way i mentioned afore. Last nite i flicked on news nite and the pictures were auful and looked all huey and yucky yet the tv ws supposed to be set correctly. I had a sony klv321 as my last tv but wanted a larger set. On the sony the picture seem crisper and sharper but the specs were not anywhere near the samsungs?

How are you connecting- composite/ S-video/ RGB? And if RGB have you tried different output settings on the skybox (if available)?...

So you've moved to a cheaper set, from a cheaper manufacturer, then wonder why it's not as good as the more expensive set?.

I would have thought the answer is pretty obvious!.

I have set the settings again and now the picture is much improved. As per your comments re moving to a cheaper manufacturer i dont agree. The tv is much better spec and now I have calibrated it properly then its now a better tv.

The tv is much better spec.
No, they merely specify to a different standard.

Bare in mind that some Freeview channels such as ITV are a better quality broadcast than what we get on sky.

It is not always down to our TV's.

they might specify a digferent standard but in my opinion and that of a lot of other reviews I have now got a better set. Please you are entitled to your opinion but dont force it on me thanks.

If you're happy, that's all that matters! - but you should compare the performance, not the specified figures (this applies to ALL sets, not just the two in question).
