my dad is looking into buying a new tv for his spare room becasue his old crt and just broke, just was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction for good deals online, recormendations etc ... doesnt want to spend more than 250 , 200 mark would be ideal, is it possible to get a decent one for this amount of cash

The whole point of an LCD is to save space, something a CRT can't do.

There's plenty of them at this price range, what features are you looking for? HD Ready? Digital?

Maybe true but the original post asks about LCD advice and not CRT or space saving.

Also there aren't any 19-20" widescreen CRT TV's that I'm aware of but with LCD there's a lot more choice.
