Tonight was Bee Gees night. It was a great show, IMHO. Josh upped his game, but I absolutely CANNOT look at the TV when he performs. His voice is OK to me, but his expressions are frightening. He sang "Jive Talking" and "To Love Somebody." It irks me that Clay sang "To Love Somebody" also. They just HAD to do the same song?! This worked to Clay's advantage as his version was BRILLIANT! I was in heaven. Simon proclaimed it one of the best performances from all three "idol" shows he's been on. Does anyone know where I can get an mp3 of Clay singing it? Clay also performed "Grease" which was fun to watch. He is such a dork. Haha.

Ruben was boring, IMO. I cannot "get into him." Kim Locke's first performance ("I Want to Be Your Everything") was lacking, but her second ("Emotions") was better.

Naturally, the first time in weeks I get the urge to vote (for Clay) I don't have a phone! My roommate moved out today and took the phone with her. All I have is my cell but the votes aren't free. Maybe next week.

I'm amazed they let them sing the same song! Clay is definitely my pick to win, although apparently he was slated for "dancing" to one of the numbers? Someone compared him to Coco The Clown?
When Gareth danced over here, Simon, who couldn't see any other winner, told him that all this emphasis on dancing was rubbish, it was his singing that mattered

Last night was a mixed bag. Clay was definitely on top of his game with his first song. Just to clarify, Clay was not dancing during his song. People called it dancing, but all he did was stand in one place and shook his hips side to side about three times really fast. That's it. Seriously. It was kind of comical to see him do it, but he was getting into the Grease song. It definitely wasn't horrible like Simon said. Ruben, in my opinion, was just OK. I can't get excited about him for some reason. He always sounds the same. He can take any song of any genre and make it sound like a Luther Vandross song. That's so boring. Kim Locke didn't sing the best songs tonight, but her vocal talent really showed through. Josh sang better this week, but I really think he should be the one to leave the competition tonight. This week wasn't as exciting as last week, but it could get ugly tonight if the wrong person goes home.

Simon: This is the third show I've done, starting with Pop Idol, and that's probably one of the best performances I've ever heard.

Ryan makes fun of Simon for calling the show Pop Idol, which Simon didn't actually do, and Simon points out that the show started in England - with better hosts! Heh.

Oh, how true! Ryan's not as bad as I thought he'd be, but in comparison to Ant and Dec...no contest.

At last. Now can we cut to the chase and crown Clay the winner. I had a few nervous moments thinking it was going to be Kim, but well done America. Now Josh can go and sing all he likes-preferably while at sea.

Tonight was fun to watch. The four people left sang a BeeGees mix of hits at the beginning of the show, and it was mostly good. When Clay sang his solo part, which was short, it was so obvious that he was a star. His voice is just amazing. Anyway, the group did another one of those annoying Ford commercials, but this time Ruben was dressed as a full pimp daddy and Clay was decked out as a total nerd who turns into a pimp daddy. That was by far the funniest skit they've done this season. Hilarious! The voting went as it should have with Kim L. and Josh in the bottom two and Josh leaving. Now it's down to the wire with Kim, Clay and Ruben next week. I heard that they will be singing three songs each, but I don't know if that's true yet. At least we didn't have a repeat of last season with a loser getting into the final three. That was obnoxious.

I thought the medley was nice, too. Very enjoyable to watch. The voting went as it should, though Simon surprised me by saying Kim should have gone. Hmmm. Josh should be happy he went out on a good note. Bringing his daughter on stage was very cute. She is adorable.

I didn't get to watch the should til around ten last night and when I turned the tape off who of all people was on TV? Dunkleman! Haha. He was playing some guy at a golf store on Dharma and Greg.

And I agree the Ford skit was hilarious.

On a different note, for the first time I really care who wins this thing, its taken 8 weeks, but at last, I am SO rooting for Clay. I watched his performances on that site jms ( brilliant site btw ) and I had shivers down my spine. I loved his performance of Grease, and if Simon cant see what a star he is, then he's living up to expectations. After all, he didnt want Will to win, and, boy, theres a singer! I think Simon has made his dislike of Clay winning more and more clear!
But, its unbelievable just how polished and professional he looks now, compared to a few weeks ago.

Tally, I figured that you didn't get the Ford skits since they are commercials. Too bad because they really show a different side to the contestants. Simon wasn't trying to get rid of Clay this week, he was on both sides of the fence with his performances. After the first song, he said that it was one of the three best performances that he's seen out of all three shows he's done so far (Pop Idol, AI, and AI2). What a compliment! The second performance he hated. So, people didn't really care after he had given Clay the highest compliment on his first performance. Know what I mean? On the results show, when Ryan asked him what he thought about the people in the bottom two, he said the best two were still sitting on the couches. That's a compliment to both Ruben and Clay. I wonder if Simon will try to sabotage Kim L. next week so that Ruben and Clay are left in the finals. Hmmm...

Apologies. Ruben's second song was awesome. Still think Clay is brilliant and way ahead, but I hope it IS a Clay/Ruben final.

The right one left for once--he should have left long ago. I thought that his "jive talking" was terrible as he couldn'y gey the low notes at all.

Wow, it's a pleasure to read these message boards. I regularly read the American boards ( http://www.bolt.com/americanidol/ ) and they're a horror of bad grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It's so much nicer to read people's thoughts when they're properly arranged in a concise, clear fashion. There seems to be a lot less asinine name-calling over here, too. :)

I never watched any of the Idol shows until CTV announced that they would be airing a Canadian version in the summer of 2003. I intended to audition, so I had to start watching AI for research, you know! Anyway, now I'm hooked. I felt bad when Josh got eliminated (I'm such a softie; I even felt sorry for Carmen), but he should have gone earlier. I thought Trenyce was a better singer than him. Did you hear the one note he hit a couple of weeks ago? I don't recall which song it was, but it was a long, high note, and he was painfully sharp for the duration. My dog got up and left the room, seriously!

Anyway, I'm auditioning for Canadian Idol in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Tuesday. I'm really excited about it. The only thing I'm worried about is that I might miss this week's shows! :)

ok this this obviously all about opinions but have to say I think Josh sang "to love somebody" better than Clay...

Josh had more feeling and more emotion than Clay who was technicallygood but not very intersting... best he`s performed I think.. I linke Clay but something is missing for me !!

Kim Loche was not at her best and I think struggled a little on both songs.. She needs to up it big style next week but she is capable of that if she chooses the right songs.

Ruben was back big style on the 2nd song fantastic quality voice with emotion !!!

Am so glad that Josh has gone. I though that as usual he was terrible last night and I had to really cringe when he bought his daughter on stage.
Not liking Josh has nothing to do with not liking country music as well. I think that whatever kind of style he sings in is terrible!
I find him very hard to watch.

Clays little wiggles were really funny last night! I'm hoping that they were meant to add comedy value as I really like Clay.

I'm with ebony rascal. Clay's voice is just too broadway style. I don't think he'd make it as a recording artist over here in the UK. He can hit the notes perfectly but the way he just belts it out like he's singing the national anthem doesn't do it for me.

Ruben's first wasn't great but his second song was one of my favourite of the whole competition. When he's on form Ruben has control over the expression in his voice that could give Marvin Gaye a run for his money. I loved it.

It's Ruben for me but I've got a feeling the Americans are gonna go for Richie Cunnigham.

I hope Trenyce goes on to do something from this. I thought she deserved to make the final 3 at least.

For the record I have no agenda whatsoever. I don't really care who actually wins. It is only a tv programme. No doubt they will all do very well out of it at the end of the day.

I cringed by the way because it all came across as being so contrived. And dare I say it - typical mushy american tv.

I know I must sound like I'm a really unsensitive person here, but I'm not. Honest! Believe it or not I usually cry at the slightest sad thing on tv. I cry watching neighbours for gods sake! This thing with Josh and his daughter just did not move me at all though. Sorry!

Rueban does absolutely nothing for me - theres no denying that he can sing but I'm with Clay all the way to win.

He a totally deserves it and his performances have grown the furtherest during every show. His two songs during the Bee Gees show were just fantastic.
