Hi,

Being a freedom2surf broadband customer I recieved information of a new telephone service from them:

http://www.freedom2surf.net/freedom2talk/

On the face of it looks good value as we don't use anything like 500 mins in any month. We never call international and mobile/0870 calls are maybe 30 mins a month. But can anyone see why we shouldn't go with it?

If only call landlines and don’t go over the minutes it looks ok.

Their charges for calls outside the minutes are crazy.

Who do you currently route your calls through? BT?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we currently use BT option1. Our average monthly usage is around 600min landline and 30min mobile/other. Typical monthly call cost £10.

I think freedom2talk could be a good move for us, I am just looking for advice from someone else in case I had missed something .

I'd recommend that, instead of worrying about how many minutes you've used, you consider THIS series of suggestions first.

BTW, 30 minutes calling mobiles would cost £1.80 using 18185 (although the number of calls would determine the actual cost because a 5p connection charge applies in each case).

It depends how many calls you make (not how long they are) but, for £8.20, you could make 164 weekday peak UK 01/02 calls* for 5p each, regardless of duration, using 18185.

* Evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls of up to 90 minutes are free using Primus Saver Option 2 CPS so there's no need to quantify them.

Heinz, thanks for the link...interesting stuff you put together there.

I've already mentioned our average monthly call duration, but if I take into account the number of calls made I'm not convinced that by using Primus and 18185, I would be saving over f2t.

[Daytime ~ 50calls, Evening ~ 30calls, Mob/0870 ~ 30calls]

Maybe It's just me not doing the maths correctly .
