Please help me.

I have 2 problems DVD ( Thomson 4200 ) and TV ( Gold star
around 10 years old ) connection.

DVD Player : 2 scart connection.
TV : 1 scart

1. When I play DVD Movie, it's watchable but the quality
are not so good. There is a lot of RED color come out.
( I try to change RGB/VIEDO via DVD player, the color
quality is same ).

2. After turn off DVD ( Stand-by ), I can not watch any
TV and viedo. The screen is black.

I asked to shop in order to slove this problem.
They said that Scart pin No. 8 remove. But it's not
work, When I play the DVD, TV signal and DVD signal
together show on my TV ( Oh ! My God ).

Would please someone help me from the nightmare.

Thanks

It sounds like a fault maybe with the TV set sadly.

Some older TV's don't always work to well with scart leads, despite having them fitted!

I have known TV's to not work properly via scart but work fine on normal TV.

Some TVs need to have the colour, brightness and contrast set when using a scart socket. So maybe it needs some adjustments?

You have tried setting the DVD player to RGB or Video and that makes no difference at all?

Have you got a normal VHS video that you could test the scart lead with? connect the video to the TV via the scart lead / scart socket and see if that plays back videotapes ok.. if it doesn't then it tells you that the TV is the problem.

IF it's ok then maybe the DVD is faulty.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I had done with your advise and then everything is perfect.
I Changed the New DVD, the screen was fine.

Would you please a tip about my problem of No. 2, when
DVD is stand-by, TV does not show VCR and TV program.
If the DVD plug out from power supply, the evrything is
normal. ( I tried to remove Pin No. 8 on Scart, but it
dose not work ).

Thank you again.

This is normal.
The DVD is acting as a pass through and consequently needs to be switched on to allow the signal through.
The same thing happens with my analogue Pace STB when I loop the RGB output of my DVD through the STB via Scart 3 and into the TV.
