Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Modem Router
...........................................................................

I am new with Tiscali Tv since 01.05.07 and appears okay with me as i cannot get other providers due to listed and conservation legislations. I am happy withit with broadband.

I had the above ADSL Router from my AOL and hoping that I could use it.

Can anyone possibly let me know if it will work. If not any suggestions? I do not want to spend another amount of money to get wireless.

As the bottom line stands, I need be wireless at home

Many thanks in advance for you generous contributions

Probably won't work. As the tv box has a modem built in you need a cable router (i.e. one with ethernet wan port and no built in modem), you can pick these up for a few quid. If you got one without wireless you could probably hook it up to the switch on your existing modem/router and use the wireless on that. However, it'd be easier, neater and less hassle if you just dumped the netgear and got a cable router with built-in wireless.

Agreed - do not connect the DG 834 to the phone line - there's no way that the Tiscali TV service will work unless it's the only ADSL device on the phone line.

You may be able to disable the ADSL section of the DG 834 but a better solution is a cable router.

I use one of those; if you plug the router to the tiscali box you can get wireless but it is an insecure connection.

The new box should have wireless so no point buying a new one now.
