Noisy BT line
Hi all,
Can anyone help please? When it rains I have a noisy and crackleson the phone. I have tried all the usual things like using a different phone, plug straight into the test socket etc. When the weather is fine no noise or crackle, which leads me to believe the problem is outside. I reported this to BT, stating it only happens in the rain, they called me back a few hours later, saying the line had been tested and it was ok. Where do I go from here, it was so bad last night on a local call I had to hang up, as I couldn't here what my mother was saying. Cheers all, Adrian |

For one thing, they ALWAYS say nothings wrong. Makes their stats look good. Secondly, I have had this sort of problem before. It went on for months, until the electricity started going and we were getting regular blackouts every time it rained. Turns out a cable casings were smashed underground, every time it rained it got flooded.

Strange thing is, I've asked the neighbours and it seems I am the only one to have this problem, which makes me think it is a problem with the line between the telegraph pole and entry of the property!

Could easily be water getting in. Do you see any damage on the surface?
Seems well sealed around the brick work outside. I have just noticed that the BTcable has some how got under the tiles of next doors extension, and am wondering if it has rubbed the tiles and damaged the cable. Unfortunately I have no way of gettibng up there to look. Any ideas if BT charge to check if the cable has been damaged like this? |

Call 'em out. Show them that, any damage is your neighbours problem. As long as it is not your fault, no charge.
