I'm interested to know how many people like two or more vertions of the same song.
So please list any that you like. Or even any that you partculally disslike some or all of the vertions of, as that'd be interesting too (covers get a very bad name but I can think of one or two that I like even though I don't like the originals).

E.G.

1.
Song: Under the bridge
By-
The Chilly peppers ~ Love
All Saints ~ Love

2.
Song: Walk this way
By-
Run DMC & Aerosmith ~ Love
Girls Aloud Vs. Sugarbabes ~ Hate

great thread...

i think Sunblock did a really good cover of Baby Baby, that 90's song by Corona - wasn't too dissimial from the original but I actually think the new one is better.

Also, Kelly Clarkson did a cover version of Patti Griffin's 'Up To The Mountain' on Idol Gives Back, and it was amazing - she got a standing ovation at the end - link to see it: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kpaJ1wOWW7Y

The Zutons - Valerie
Amy Winehouse - Valerie

I think both are equally as good, but am beginning to sway to the Winehouse.

Just a few that I like...

America - Simon and Garfunkel (used to be my favourite song ever...)
America - Yes (...but this is way freakier and funkier, and maybe even better)

Fields of Gold - Sting (good...)
Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy (...pure and brilliant)

Here, There and Everywhere - Beatles (pretty damn good...)
Here, There and Everywhere - Emmylou Harris (...even better)

MacArthur Park - Richard Harris (Jimmy Webb's much reviled classic which I love...)
MacArthur Park - Donna Summer (...but Giorgio Moroder's discofied version is even better!)

La La Means I Love You - Delfonics (yep, great, loads of covers of this, but...)
La La Means I Love You - Laura Nyro (...might be my favourite)

Born Slippy - Underworld (the Trainspotting dance classic done cocktail jazz stylee by...)
Born Slippy - Barefoot (...works surprisingly well!)

Murder By Numbers - Police (perfectly fine bonus track from 'Synchronicity'...)
Murder By Numbers - Frank Zappa (...covered to great effect by the master!)

But then again, there's...

I Will Always Love You - Dolly Parton (fabulous!...)
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston (...AARRGH! make it stop!)

or

Dreams - Fleetwood Mac (pretty damn fine...)
Dreams - The Corrs (...pretty damn near unlistenable)

etc.
