It is still a current model and features quite heavily on the Sony website. I've bought the 40" version (with FREE 160GB DVD/HDD and stand, delivery Friday) and was very impressed with the Torchwood bit on the BBC HD Demo. John Lewis (there I go again plugging JL) are currently offering it with a FREE Sony 20" HDTV. OK it's £1999 but the 20" is worth £500 and a 5 year guarantee on both. Also in-store my 40" was £270 less than the internet price... go figure? http://www.johnlewis.com/Audio+and+T...0/Product.aspx (Honestly, I don't work for them!)

If you want detailed opinions of the set, you may want to pack a flask and a weeks supply of food and read the thread on the AV FORUMS:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432171 I've got a 40 inch and I'm well pleased with it. However, the bottom line with these sets is that some of the panels exhibit 'clouding issues' (you'll see more details on the AVFORUMS thread). Some people have had to return the set 3 or more times to get a good one and Sony seem to think it's in spec. Mine has a bit but acceptable to me. If you get one with none or acceptable, to you, clouding, they're superb! |
