Gym-proof headphones for Ipod Nano
ronaldo175
23-06-2007
I've just ordered an ipod nano and was looking for earphones/buds etc which are totally secure when running. All the ones I've had in the past have been useless and fall out of at least on ear every 100 metres!!

Does anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Why not use the type with a "headband" in them, they cling to the head a bit firmer...

Alternatively I use Sony's MDR-EX71SL that sit in your ear more than other ones do (also allowing you to use a much lower volume), these don't come out on my bike, unlike my old ones that came out every five seconds.

I use these in ear head phones also at the gym and having used them for over two years I can say they are the best.... £30 or so from Comet etc.

I have a sony NW-S203 which is splash proof. I've also worn it when it's been raining hard and it's ok.
Hmm... I would go for the MDR-EX71SL. But I ride a bike and it would block out too much ambient sound.

I love my Shure E2C headphones.

They are in-ear buds and never fall out + they keep out the sound.

They are also very good quality, but a little more than other makes (but well worth it for the extra money):

I seem to remember that Shure also gives them a 2 year warranty as well.

I have the same question as ronaldo. Got an ear infection from in-ear phones (new ones supposedly) so am looking for small external earpad ones. Sennheiser MX100s apparently let everyone listen to what you are listening to which isn't good in London. Antisocial from both sides of the argument.
I need to use them for gym and general walking about, but not noise cancelling or I will get run over - generally not a good idea. Can you use external headphones in the 'summer' weather though?

I've never had a pair of headphones that don't eventually break in one ear, now while that's great for hearing traffic hearing sound in one ear only is the audio equivalent of a black eye so are the ones described tough in the cable department?

I always find in-ear headphones fall out when I run in the gym. I ended up getting a pair of Sennheiser 'over the head' style, which are perfect. I don't know the model number as I don't have them with me As the gym is noisy, the fact that sound may leak isn't really an issue.

I have the same problem. I've seen these advertised in a catalogue. They look similar to Ronaldo's choice. Anyone got them? Any good?

They seem to get mixed reviews on the Amazon website.

My wife decided to steal my PMX200's to use at her gym, so I bought a set of PMX60's. Both are fine for gym use and I would recommend either set.
