One of the best live bands ever, and they've still got it.

I saw them in the 70s in their heyday, and I dont think anyone could touch them.

I also saw them last month, and enjoyed them just as much.

They have made plenty of great records, and deserve their place in rock history.

Must have been great to see the original line-up including Moon and Entwistle.......always a minor regret of mine that I've been too young to see some of the greats in their prime like the Beatles, Who, Kinks, etc........

My favourite Who LP is their debut, 'My Generation'. Choc full of top tunes, Townsend was really coming into focus as a songwriter then, 'La-La-Lies', 'The Goods Gone', 'A Legal Matter' to name but a few.......then ending with the instrumental 'The Ox' (Entwistle's nickname, obviously) featuring some high octane drumming from Moon.......

I was very lucky to see them back then, they were awesome.

I like My Generation, but I think they just got better and better.

A quick One, and The Who Sell Out were fantastic but they were overshadowed by the three that followed, and became rock classics. Tommy, Whos Next (my favourite album of all time), and Quadrophenia were all top class. The albums that followed those(until Moons death) were also overshadowed by the big three, and The Who By Numbers really is under rated.

The fact they are still putting on such great shows now is testimony to their quality.

Every rock fan should try and see them while there is still time.

I watched Tommy again recently for the first time since I was a kid......it was really like watching it for the first time TBH as a lot of it went over my head first time around........funny how the songs always sound that little bit better while you're watching the film, isn't it?

I agree with you about 'Who's Next', widely acclaimed as the closest The Who got to a classic album, 'My Generation' is just my personal taste......

Whenever you tried to buy 'The Who By Numbers' from a second hand record shop someone had always joined the dots hadn't they?

One of Britain's best bands. I like the album A Quick One, with all the advert jingles on it. Who's Next is a masterpiece, with some of their best rockers like Won't Get Fooled Again. The slower songs are all excellent too - Behind Blue Eyes in particular.

Tommy is full of great tunes, but I think Quadrophenia is more accessible; the four themes, one for each Who group member, is a clever idea. Some of the synthesizer and keyboard work on it are outstanding - a side of The Who often missed.

Where are today's equivalent of The Who?

I love The Who.........

As a teen at the time, I only really knew the singles, and to be honest, I still only really know the singles.............

But what a collection of hit singles..............

My Generation, Can't Explain, I'm A Boy, Pictures of Lily, Happy Jack, I Can See for Miles............

Don't you mean The Who Sell Out? Both fine albums though, although Quadrophenia is IMHO the best thing they ever did, with Live At Leeds and Who's Next right behind it.

Yes, just realized my mistake, it was The Who Sell Out with all the jingles. Quadrophenia always seems to be in the shadow of Tommy, but it's easily just as good. I love the sound effects on it like the sea, radio reports and brass bands. Gives a great feel of 60s seaside England.

That book he was "researching about" is taking a long time to be published?

I've just been listening to The Who Sell Out, and it really is a masterpiece of the era, with glimpses of the greatness that was to follow.

One interesting thing about The Who live in recent years is that they record all their concerts, and they are available on cd and dvd. All the profits go to charity, and it does away with the bootleggers.
