Songs you discovered later than everyone else
Sometimes I only finally 'discover' a song, or realise I like it well after its inital success. For example, Fedde Le Grand's song from last year about Detroit...it was number 1 in September or something, but I only realised I liked it in about January of this year
![]() And Just Jack's 'Stars in their eyes' and Fedde Le Grand/Camille Jones' 'The Creeps' were only added to my iTunes yesterday...months they peaked in the charts ![]() Are there any songs that you've discovered later than everyone else?

Stupidly I listened to a colleague at college in 1989 who told me not to buy The Stone Roses debut album 'because it was crap'.......
Didn't discover one of the best albums ever made until 18 months after every one else as a consequence......still, it's 18 months fresher to me, I'spose........ |

Your colleague gave you some very good advice, then. Buying that album was the most wasteful £3 I've ever spent. I was just lucky HMV had a sale on at the time. I hoped it would all sound like Fools Gold. I was a fool for thinking that.

White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane...It was written 20 years before I was born, but still only discovered it last month. It is now my favourite ever song. |

Yeah, it does happen sometimes.
The worst is when you slag off a particular song or artist to people quite strongly, but after listening to it a bit more you realise you actually quite like it. Happened to me with Kelly Clarkson and the Arctic Monkeys.

Because it's a good song. And the first Stone Roses album does all sound the same - a load of generic, jingle-jangle 'indie' rubbish.

Recently, Gnarls Barkley - refused to like at first. Also Will Young - All Time Love - hated it at first, refused to listen to it, before realising a couple of moths later that it a great tune!
Arctic Monkeys are another band with which that has happened! |

I discovered David Bowie, Lou Reed, Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop in the 80s, after Bowie brought out 'Scary Monsters' and I bought his back catalogue, got really keen on him and discovered all the others through his links with them.

I HATED Gnarls Barkley's Crazy at first, especially when it was at number one for so long. I started liking the song a few months later

Having been in denial since my self-deluded cool youth, after today's performance I've got to 'fess up to liking Duran Duran's 'Rio'.........
There. I feel better now.
