How do you know that they weren't her favourite band of the festival though? Two years ago a band who I know played Glastonbury and that was my favourite set of the weekend. Because I know this band, does this mean that my opinion is any less valid?

Her opinion on Editors can never be truly objective (same as your opinion on your mates band), so she should leave them out of the equation when picking any favourites. This obviously only applies when she is broadcasting on a public service broadcaster, of course she can say what she wants privately. I'm old enough to remember payola.

another vote for the arcade fire / bjork double header on the other stage. finally got to see the arcade fire, and they were fantastic. bjork took a while to warm up i thought, but was fantastic by the end, and she did my fave, hyperballad.

saturday was a good night over at the John Peel stage, and saw Patrick Wolf, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Get Cape Muddy, Wash Cape, Iron Cape, Fly (as he's now known) who coped well with his mic problems, and then The Twang - was about three rows back so had a good jump.

The Hold Steady were great fun - seemed to be enjoying it as much as any band i've seen, and Bright Eyes another, who did at least allude to the shenanigans from his last visit.

also caught a bit of comedy this year - Nina Conti, an actually funny ventriloquist, Simon Munnery, Charles Ross (?), the guy who does the one man [i]star wars[/i[] thing in the style of the reduced shakespeare company, Steve Frost's improv thing, as well as catch some leftie stuff in the leftfield tent - Tony Benn brilliant as ever, and Mark Thomas on brilliant form telling the story of his organised protests to show how ludicrous it all is about getting permission to protest ear parliament. (I understand Gordon Brown announced it's repeal at the weekend)

also stumbled across a Duke Special set at 2am on the Friday night, and as ever Billy Bragg was an absolute legend.

so quite a bit really!

and all brilliant despite the mud and rain. we're due a dry one next year, surely?

bloody hell - how wet was that? was actually awake, and two of us went to that, but we were pretty far back, couldn't really see, couldn't really hear (the sound was way too low), and even when you could just about hear, people were shouting "LOUDER....LOUDER....LOUDER". and we were getting completely soaked, so gave up on it.

ah well - glad he was worth the rain!

She also plays their records every single day on her show...ok so shes bound to like them... but maybe she should also admit her bias and give other bands a chance as well!

It was the bit where she went on about every one coming up to her and saying they were the best band of the weekend that made me cringe and think 'she's gone too far really'.

I feel so strongly about it, I've sent a formal complaint here:

It was good to see BBC show Cold War Kids even if it was only one song ( Hang Me Out To Dry). If there's any justice this lot will sell lots of albums.

Did she go on past the noise curfew? Just asking because after coming back from the Arctic Monkeys (who were great, but not as good as Kasabian) and sitting in the gazebo, I could still hear Bjork somewhere in the distance.

Yeah, finally got to see the Steve Frost improv this year after it being too full in 2005, enjoyed Friday's so much I went again on Saturday. Also saw Tony Ben and really enjoyed Mark Thomas, he certainly was another of the highlights of the weekend, as you say on top form.

That was my third glasto. I survived the mud of '98, the floods of '05 and the non-stop rain of '07, so surely I'm due a sunny one next year! As far as the weather goes, I prefered last time because despite all the floods and everything, it pretty much only rained on the Friday morning, and by the Sunday the mud was drying up already. This time it kept raining, including during the 3 hour queue for the shuttle bus.. took us less than 5 hours to get there from front door to campsite, and over 9 hours to get home!

Managed to get there pretty much just before the whole field was filled with people so I managed to get close to the front - just far away enough not to be covered by the roof of the stage! Got soaked - God, that was heavy rain - but, being lucky enough to hear him, it was completely worth it.

Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors is on the Radio 1 A list so it's bound to be played most days. The presenter has very little input into what songs are played on their shows nowadays.

I would agree with this, but my gripe is she bigged them up on BBC TV, prompting a repeat of some of their live set. That, to me, is slightly dodgy.

Can't we just get Edith off the BBC altogether somehow? Maybe she could join Editors as a backing singer or playing the triangle or something. I'm sure that would be 'amazing!!'

I think there was a new law passed so that Bjork can perform as loudly as she wants at any time she wants.

If that's not true, it should be .

Actually, she has also developed an even more annoying Bowmanism.....'Yeah yeah yeah' she says very often. Right does that my head in.

I agree paulspursman - kaisers were not as great as usual. Loved Arctic Monkeys, The Gossip, Maximo Park, Kasabian and The Pigeon Detectives

I was only there for Sunday unfortunately
(Couldn't get tickets for the whole thing, but my bro-in-law lives locally and got Sunday-only tickets)
Loved every minute of it!
Tho' my legs are aching with the effort of trudging through the mud & gloop
I did see quite a bit of Friday & Saturday on TV
Loved Amy Winehouse as ever; also Kasabian & The Killers
I just didn't get Arctic Monkeys or Arcade Fire
On Sunday, loved Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and The Waterboys
Cold War Kids were OK
Gave up on the Manics; really disappointing
I thought Mika was great;
Kaiser Chiefs also OK (Marcus Brigstocke was standing next to me, watching them)
But the highlights were The Who and Dame Shirl
I was worried I might not like The Who esp as only Pete Townshend & Roger Daltrey are still alive; but they can still do it
Baba O'Reilly was sooo good and the Tommy stuff
And Shirley Bassey was amazing; she looked fantastic and sounded even better

Sorry to come back to this thread again - but I forgot to mention the Cribs. They were on the other stage at something like 11:30 on Friday morning, and were absolutely brilliant. Just a brilliant performance from start to finish.

Biggest dissapointment was the Rakes, I've seen them 4 or 5 times now and normally they're excellent but that was by far the worst I've seen them - well, to be fair, the rest of the band looked like they were trying as hard as they could, but Alan was rubbish, occasionally he does this whining instead of singing thing that sounds good once or twice in a gig but this time he was doing it practically all the way through, he was mumbling lines he couldn't remember, and his usual funny banter was missing.

The Who were OK but I'd only really be excited about seeing them if it was 30-odd years ago and Keith Moon was still alive. The lights were good, anyway... Under normal circumstances I would have either gone to see Chemical Brothers on the other stage or the Gossip in the John Peel tent, but I just couldn't face another trudge through the mud and huge crowds - under darkness it seems much much worse. But when I was walking down to see Bill Bailey I walked past the Acoustic tent and heard the Bootleg Beatles finishing their set, and it seemed like there was such a nice warm & cosy atmosphere in there, everyone gathered round signing along, the band in complete character as they spoke between songs, I should have seen them instead.

I was in the absolutely perfect spot for the Chemical Brothers. Close enough that the visuals took up nearly my entire field of vision, but far enough away that I could appreciate all of the lasers. They were worth the ticket fee alone. I abslutely fell in love with a track I'd not heard before so I assume it is on the new album. It was right near the end and the visuals consisted of travelling down these psychedelic tunnels.

Other highlights were Lou Rhodes (formerly of Lamb) on the Park Stage. Will be investigating her studio stuff now! Her acoustic version of Lamb's Heaven was gorgeous, and Babyhead on the Jazzworld Stage were brilliant fun as always

I'd either go for the Chemical Brothers or the Arctic Monkeys. I heard Arcad Fire also were good but didnt get to see them

Best performance : Pigeon detectives
Surprisingly good performance: Mr Hudson and the library (on the jazz world stage)
Most dissapointing performance: Kaiser Chiefs (not half as good live as they were an year ago at Reading)
