These days, I seem to cringe at the music when it comes on. Is it time for Corrie to change it. Maybe let Take That have a vocal style tune for me.

Noooo! Vocal theme tunes are much cheesier than instrumentals! (In my opinion )

If anything, they should go back to the older, more poignant version of the Corrie theme.

I think it's fine as it is.

It's been the same tune since it's started, near enough. No need to fix what's not broken...

I actually think you're serious.

No, no vocals please! I'd like to see the theme tune be re-recorded but no dramatic changes really. Maybe just that the end credits have a bit of oomph when it ends on a dramatic scene like Emmerdale and EastEnders.

Perhaps this would be more to the OP's taste?

We could have it like the new hollyoaks titles!

Betty in a bikini shaking her booty, and Emily break-dancing!

I remember a caberet band version at the end of an episode in the 70s where Rita and Alf did a slow dance to the theme.

Why change a theme tune that has been traditional for over 40 years?

That said though, they should get rid of that tacky blue background used on the end credits and the announcer should stop talking over the credits

Good grief. I have a horrible feeling the OP will end up working in television, some of the dreadful ideas he keeps coming up with

Well the theme certainly doesn't match the content of the show anymore. It is as someone once said, a Mills and Boon wrapped in a Dickens sleeve.

Soaps NEVER scrap their "traditional" theme tunes. They get jazzed up a bit, modernised when it becomes necassery, but the tune itself always remains the same. Even Crossroads, having returned after about 13 years had the same basic tune, despite only having about 3 characters from the previous episodes...

..So I don't think Take That's going to happen

tbh ithink eastenders is the only soap with a good theme
when it has a dramatic end it goes well with the drums or they change it a little when they have a death or whatever
hollyoaks is bar far the worst with corrie 2nd and nighbours 3rd

Don't even say it in jest.

The Crossroads theme was actually changed in the 80s, not long before it was scrapped the first time, but was brought back for the remakes.

Somehow I don't think a new version with Take That on vocals is ever going to see the light of day. Thank goodness.

Surely the OP isn't being serious??!

Oh, really? I didn't know that...was that when they changed it so that it was about the town rather than focusing on the hotel? To be honest this was all a good bit before my time (I only watched Mark 2) I was just going off stuff I've read, and of course have seen the original theme tune on YouTube
