Hi

The wife and I both have a nano and want to know if it is possible to have a library each instead of me having to uncheck all the wifes songs every time I want to sync my ipod. I have nothing against baldy Britney but don't have the same tastes as the wife and it can be a bit tedious having to check/uncheck 500 songs each time I sync.

any other hints and tips would also be appreciated to help with this little problem.

cheers

There's actually a simple solution to this that works well for me and my girlfriend.

Create two playlists, one for you and one for your wife. Configure your ipod to only sync to selected playlists, and select the appropriate playlist for each iPod.

i don't know if you're using a mac or a pc, but this what i would do on my mac. have you and your wife as separate users on your computer. put your music library in a shared location. each of you can then adapt your individial libraries as you wish and sync your ipod only to your user's itunes library.

You could set the iPods to manual sync rather than automatic, that way you can share the same iTunes library but both have complete control of what you want on the individual Nanos

You can also set different profiles in iTunes - each with their own library and then choose which one to open when you start iTunes.

The only problem with that is if you have a song in both libraries, then make a change in one, it won't update the other.

Personally, I'd make a folder for each iPod in iTunes then have various playlists for each folder which you can then sync. Of course, if you're running individual user accounts for your OS then you need to attempt the shared library thing or have individual ones.

I use windows XP and both me and my daughter are set up as users so we have our own itunes on our own 'side' of the computer

I never knew iTunes did that. I use Manual Sync, it helps when you have other people round who have iPods.
