As dvd playback is controlled by region coding the PS3 should play UK discs as they are R2 like Japanese discs.

I dont know how you have your PS3 connected but the PS2 would only ever output NTSC via a scart lead .

In this day and age its unlikely that any device will be completely restricted to PAL or NTSC.

I would think there would be a setting to change within the PS3.

Its probably like a standard dvd player with PAL/NTSC/AUTO settings.

Knowing Sony it will be preset to NTSC so you need to change it for PAL playback

The problem is NOT Pal/Ntsc, but region code.

Unlike traditional dvd players, there is NO hack available to modify a PS3's region coding.

Sorry, but you're going to have to use a standard dvd player to play your dvd collection on.
