Getting Tiscali tv
Ads
28-06-2007
Do you have to have an active BT line, or can Tiscali connect you by using a BT line which is no longer connected (as I am movign shortly to a new flat, so there will be no active bt line there - there is no point me getting Tiscali tv/phone if I have to sign up to a minimum contract with BT to get my phone line active).

You need to sign up to BT then you can get it. If there's a line already there it's only a 3 month contract, after that time you can also move your line rental to homechoice.

I believe that even if BT install a line you can move the line rental over to another provider but you may be tied in for a 12 month contract with both in that way.

Does anyone know the launch date? Where will they be on the EPG?

I think they may shake up the EPG when the box comes.

On the topic of the new box, any news? July is just a few days away.

You would have to get the BT line up and running, as you do need a BT line. After that you can go straight over to Tiscali. It takes about two weeks though, as they have to get the migrating code to change you over to Tiscali. Just bear in mind though that you still have to pay line rental to BT as well as paying Tiscali. The line rental is about £20 a month. It is well worth it though, and if I remember the installation cost was £1 on your first bill. I don't know if that has changed though as we got it when it was Homechoice??

Not quite.

You can transfer line rental full over. As homechoice they charged £10pcm for this as opposed to BT's £11.50pcm (Or thereabouts, they change it regularly these days)

On top of this you pay your £14.99 for BB & TV, £3 for 8Mb, £5 for anytime calls, £10 for Big Pack etc

We have one bill - BT aren't involved for any of it direct to us - we're paying £42.99 a month to a single provider.

Homechoice have had servers in manchester for years, they just never got commissioned due to lack of ££'s

OK.... cheers for that M_at as we are paying line rental to BT.... I'll have a word with Tiscali about that on Monday., as if that is the case we shouldn't be paying BT anything.... Cheers.

Yep, got one bill from 19th July. So glad that you told me this M_at as I was paying £41.00 a month to BT and £80 quid to Tiscali. That has saved me an awful lot of money!!

Anybody know if you have to get the phoneline from Tiscali (Unbundled Local Loop) in order to get Tiscali TV?

I don't live in an unbundled are, but might be interested on just getting the Broadband & TV package.

Anyone know? Tiscalli's website isnt very clear.

When it was Homechoice you didn't have to get the line (I didn't) but I don't know whether Tiscali will change that for new subscribers.

In any event, if your exchange has not been unbundled it is very unlikely you'll get Tiscali TV as it relies on kit being in the exchange.

I thought that might be the case. Ah well.

Thanks for answering anyway.
