I'm about to move house and buy a new TV and, up until now, I've been pretty adamant that the TV I was going to get was the Panasonic TH-37PX70 because I've read some amazing reviews of it.

However, I'm getting increasingly worried about future proofing and so I'm thinking about 1080p. The thing is I've only got about £800 to play with so the only one within my price range is the Sharp LC37XD1E or the Toshiba 37X3030DB.

Is 1080p really worth it when, theoretically, the Panasonic should be a much better TV? Also, the Panasonic has a "1080p Digital Processing Chip-Set", whatever that means. I'm assuming it just accepts a 1080p signal and then scales it down to either 1080i or 720p?

One thing that is bothering me a little about the Panasonic however is that its resolution is 1024x720 whereas all other 720p HDTVs I've seen have been 1366x768. Why's this?

I have the 37PX70 and think it is a brilliant panel.

Have owned two LCD's before and this is far superior (they were 1366 x 768).

I'm sure I have made lots of comments before about it but decent PQ is not all about resolution.

Resolution by itself is just one small element among other things such as black levels, motion handling, clarity, picture noise, colour reproduction, response times and viewing angles.

This plasma is strong in all these areas IMO.
