'Concert for Diana' lineup set

New York Daily News

Princes William and Harry had just one request for their mother's favorite musician, Sir Elton John, for her anniversary concert this weekend. They asked that he not perform the weepy "Candle in the Wind," the song he revealed at her funeral with new, and especially maudlin, lyrics.

After all, this is a concert meant to celebrate Princess Diana's life, not commemorate her death, which occurred 10 years ago. VH1 plans to air all six hours of the show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The five-hour time difference from London accounts for the early hour here. NBC will broadcast highlights of the event at 8 p.m.

According to VH1, the day will be divided into three 90-minute segments, with the middle bit a tad fatter. Twenty-minute breaks will fall between segments, but the nonperformance sections will be crammed with lots of taped segments, toasting Diana's life and explaining her personal connections to some of the performers.

Here's a current rundown of who's set to appear:

First segment

A welcome from Princes William and Harry
Elton John
Nelly
James Morrison
Lily Allen
The Feeling
Fergie
Duran Duran
The English National Ballet

Second segment

Status Quo
Joss Stone
Orson
Roger Hodgson of Supertramp
Tom Jones
Will Young
Natasha Bedingfield
Pharrell
Bryan Ferry
An Andrew Lloyd Webber performance, featuring Donny Osmond and Andrea Bocelli.

Third segment

Rod Stewart
Kanye West
Diddy
Take That (plus Special Guest)
Elton John

I doubt it will be Robbie, as Slane says, perhaps Lulu or the princes themselves

The original article now says "Take That (possible reunion with Robbie Williams)"

Or, put another way - "Please Tune In And See If It Happens"

Sorry sloopy, you might have to put up with it

Sir Elton John is expected to play his tribute song to Princess Diana - Candle in the Wind - at the concert being staged in her memory.
Princes William and Harry asked him to perform the piece at the Concert for Diana, at Wembley stadium on Sunday.

Exactly, just a PR stunt aimed at attracting as many viewers as possible

I hope he does sing it - after all the concert is about diana, and that is a tribute to her!

Robbies got a football match in LA tonight so unless he's superman and hot foots it to the UK and start rehearsing in the next few hours this is media rubbish again
TT are perfectly able to do their set without him!

Does "gazfan" mean Gary Barlow? Are you a fan of The Talent?

I don't know the time difference between here and LA, but wouldn't it be possible for Robbie to play his match and then sleep on a chartered flight over to Britain?

I hope he doesn't but it's more likely than the parachuting into Stirling theory we've been discussing elsewhere lol

The match was supposed to be on Monday and it was brought forward. And LA is eight hours behind us. It's possible. And of course Robbie might not be playing anyway...he didn't play in the last game, it could all be an elaborate injury hoax.....

Of course TT are perfectly able to do their set without him, but I for one would LOVE to see them all back together again, especially after recently reading Gary's book.

I have officially put Joss Stone on "mime watch" for tommorow..

they showed a very short clip of her rehearsing at wembley on bbcnews, and it sounded very much backing track aided to me, she seemed to stop and the sound carried on.

though ill give her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she was using it as a guide to tune her vocals or something.

Didn't you mean to say you prefer Take That without Robbie, the egotistical maniac?!
