I seem to remember in the dim and distant past that the doctor was on the Titanic in the old series and I am certain that 'Whois Dr Who website' in CE series had the Dr as a butler on the Titanic, oops.

Ok, firstly I'm hoping that in the course of repairing the damage of the ship shaped hole in the wall, the console room set might get a revamp. Can't say I've ever been to struck with the look of it, too cavernous and dismal looking, dark lighting and faded colours might look organic but they're a bit dull. Hopefully this is a convenient excuse for a bit of brightening up. Probably not going to get the nice glossy white back, but something a little less overbearingly 'grand' and more towards a more sleek look would be great.

Secondly, the whole Titanic through the wall bit just seems daft to me, doesn't add up at all. I could almost accept it if it had smashed through the doors somehow, but through the wall makes no sense to me. As I understand it, the TARDIS interior and exterior exist in two different dimensions/phases or suchlike, and are connected only through the door (and/or door in auxilliarly console room etc), with the interior being vast. Even ignoring that idea that an ocean liner can somehow break through a TARDIS wall by accident when enemies can't do it on purpose, if a ship hit the back side of the TARDIS why would it come through a wall in the console room, or is that the full extent now, no other rooms? I know there's been no sign of an exit door to the rest of the interior (only a staircase into the wardrobe) but surely it's not become a space/time travelling version of a two floor apartment? I hope there's more to it that just console room, couple of bedrooms and a walk-in wardrobe room, and all the engineering gubbins under the floor.

I dunno, seems like someone thought of a funny idea at a meeting one day and just dropped it in at the end of the show for an amusing image to build up to Christmas. At least there are a few months for them to dig out of the hole. Didn't like last Xmas's story much, and this one is off to a shaky start already, oh dear. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

People keep saying 'How can the Titanic crash into the Tardis?' How did Catherine Tate get transported into the Tardis from a church in london to the middle of space. Nobody knew at the end of Doomsday how it was possible but they sorted it out in The runaway Bride so i have no doubt that the titanic situation will be explained in The Voyage of the damned... Dont question it? Just go with the flow and wait for the answer at Christmas

To be honest I think RTD was thinking one thing, shock factor when he came up with the idea, which to be fair he acheived. Im not a RTD basher, but i think he has a policy of shoot now ask questions later when it comes to cannon and so never really gave the supposed indistructability of the TARDIS a thought.

My bet is on the Eternals (as already mentioned)

Already mentioned twice in the new series (Army of Ghosts and The Shakespeare Code).

Only problem is the third mention of them from the new era. In his brief history of the Time War RTD said they fled the Universe never to return (or something similar).

That ship looked far too small to be the Titanic. It looked more like one of those cabin cruisers that go up and down the Norfolk Broads!

Wait intil you see the episode before you judge there is answer to this impossible just like there was with the bride, the point is that its supposed to make you think WHAT just like the Doctor it should be impossible but then you find out that it is indeed possible. I don't think that it is the actual Titanic.

Also wouldn't there rumors that they were looking for actors to play famous character throughout history, i think that something is messing up time causing historical events to be thrown into other time zones, or the tarids is going crazy and throwing the doctor to different time zones throughout the episode. Just my theory

Could it be the Starship Titanic? A bit of a nod to Douglas Adams who wrote episodes of Classic Dr Who.

I think we should focus more on the title 'Voyage of the Damned'. Sounds much bleaker than just the historic Titanic story. Maybe 'ships' of all kinds are being plucked out of history and stranded out of time (Tardis included?). Maybe crew and passengers have been taken off the real Titanic just after it crashed and are on a fake ship being subjected to some alien experiment?....Basically, who knows - but I would not get all literal about the real Titanic, icebergs and the strength of the Tardis hull.

Am I alone in thinking that if, the Titanic featured is (in the story) supposed to be the "real" one, then isn't that just a bit disrepectful to the memories of those who died and their families?

The Titanic is not an ancient legend, a fictional story or something funny. It is a grave that belongs to over a thousand people who suffered the most appalling deaths.

If RTD serves up a story that involves The Doctor or an enemy race being shown to affect the outcome of this terrible and tragic REAL event then I personally would find it offensive.

Hopefully, the version of the Titanic actually featured will be something different altogether...

i agree-'damned' means condemned or eternal punishment-so the titanic we see is a 'ghostship' of sorts maybe

How can they have an episode that features the Titanic, theres no way they can pull that off, the Titanic movie cost millions and its not as if they can have one CGI shot of the Titanic to establish where we are and then just be on set for inside the Titanic because the ship has smashed into the Tarids they will need to show how this happened and then how its corrected.

All we have to go on for identification seems to be the lifebelt. On the lifebelt, it only says "Titanic" twice. Wouldn't it say "RMS Titanic" if it was from the real vessel? In fact, I've seen elsewhere that lifebelts on the White Star Line at the time were more likely be just plain white.

I've a feeling that it wont be THE Titanic, as other have said it looked nothing like it and was unforgivably wrong in scale, it did however look like a small boat/ship. Maybe it's a red herring. If it is set aboard the Titanic it will have to be tastefully done. But with the title 'Voyage of the Damned' I'd be surprised if it was the Titanic. For all we know the Tardis could have landed in a Nautical Museum, crap idea on my half, but you get my drift.

Plus everyone knows The Titanic wasnt hit head on.

But if it is a red herring many will be disappointed if it turns out not to be THE Titanic
