First clips of VotD from the BBC Christmas Promo

Let the speculation begin.

I think we can safely say that if it is the real Titanic it has had a few modifications.

I think they are
Spoiler
Axons
The Master did mention
Spoiler
The Axons
in "Last of the Time Lords", and sometimes these references are followed up.

I'm more looking forward to the series 4 trailer that we'll get before the closing credits of VOTD though, not to mention the fact that Murray Gold has promised us a new version of the theme music for VOTD and series 4

A new title sequence to replace the rather dated and cheap looking current one would be nice as well.......

I thought rumour had it that the vessel was in fact a

Well it doesn't land on it - A Titanic (not The Titanic) crashes into The Tardis - and Kylie's character is called Astrid which is an anagram of Tardis

The rumour (or one of them at least) was I believe that it was the Titanic but it had been taken by an Alien and turned into a
Spoiler
spaceship

“One of my daughters was saying that Kylie is the Tardis?”

Another rumour but one that may be true, though it only really started when the Sun (I think) took some speculation from DW forums and ran it as a story.

The reasons for it are two fold:

Kylie's character is called Astrid Peth, Astrid is an anagram of TARDIS and Peth supposedly means "Part" in Welsh, so you have "Part TARDIS".

The other bit was from a newspaper article (The Sun again I think) which had a line about Astrid being last seen spinning off into space in a half form of herself.

What do we normally see spinning in space in DW and in the very clip above in fact?

My Pet theory is that Astrid is a TARDIS but not the Doctors TARDIS. She is part of the Titanic which is a TARDIS in disguise.

Peth doesn't strictly mean "part" though - rhan is "part" - peth means "thing". So going by that rumour you could decipher it as TARDIS thing.

Any other Welsh-speakers gonna back me up?

Oooh, one more thing; I'm looking forward to this episode, just for the fun really. Geoff Palmer, Clive Swift, Bernard Cribbins performing an exclusive 'Right Said Fred' with the Doctor playing Fred (well, maybe another time), and Kylie Minouge - I'm looking forward to that just for the strangeness of it.

Oh and of course the Series 4 trailer and (hopefully) the new title music!!!

A character called ASTRID also appeared in the Patrick Troughton 1968 adventure 'The Enemy Of The World' way back in 1968. Probably not connected though!

Perth is also a bit of a dump, so she could be a junkyard for TARDISes.

If Astrid really is a Tardis, and not the Doctor's, Then that raises the fascinating question: Whose Tardis is she?!!

There's a couple of likely options:
Spoiler
The Master or
Romana

Interesting n'est pas?!!

she could be anyone's. She could be some random Time Lord's, who we haven't met, TARDIS

Well at least one Time Lord survived the Time War by being "disguised" as a human.

So perhaps a Tardis survived because it was hidden in the same way?

Character names have been released. And there's a few surprises.

You got the broadcast date down as 25/12/2006 on your VotD page.

The name of Bernard Cribbins character is interesting as I think the same character may be appearing in Series 4.

And I see they have not used the name of the real Captain of the Titanic, perhaps proof it is infact not the Titanic of the history books?

Well I guess this makes it official then:

Definitely a replica of the Titanic. I wonder if they used parts of the real Titanic.... You know somehow--- uhm, with alien devices, refurbished it from its horrible state...

And in case no one has checked... http://www.drwho-online.co.uk/news/news.htm

Wait, shouldn't the Christmas Radio Times be out now? I heard the double-week issue was out Saturday. My dad has a subscription but we live in Wales so we're not given priority probably get it next year some time.

Shouldn't it have a review and info? Has anyone read it?
