Wicked advice please from MT fans

Knowing that there are so many MT afficionados amongst the Joseph fans on DS, I wonder if any can offer advice. I'm of to see Joseph in November on a Tuesday evening. I've been thinking of also booking up a Wednesday matinee performance to see something else before coming back to Devon. Both the Sound of Music and Wicked do Wednesday matinees. I know nothing about Wicked - has anyone any comments on either show? I'm taking my Mum for her birthday, which show would you recommend or are there any others that you think would be worth seeing? I'm sure whatever we do will pale in comparison to Lee the night before!! Thanks.

I've heard good things about Wicked, but why don't you just go and see Joseph again?

You know you'll want to!

You will like Wicked but your Mother will probably prefer the Sound of Music. If it's for her birthday, she would probably get a kick out of the more traditional musical.

I'd personally go for Wicked. I saw it with Idina Menzell but have heard that Kerry Ellis is fantastic in it.

I am not sure about seeing the Sound of Music on the West End as I loved the film so much when I was a child.

Billy Elliot is fantastic but does have a lot of swearing in it.

Depends what kind of thing you want to see - We Will Rock You is amazing - but it is Queen songs so if you don't like Queen ... it's not gonna work for you !!

Blood Brothers is brilliant and well worth watching. Wicked has brilliant reviews too ... Avenue Q is well worth watching - but it is with puppets and quite saucy so if you ae going with your mum ... depends how open-minded she is

Otherwise there's Dirty Dancing, Guys and Dolls, Chicago ..

SO MUCH CHOICE

Wicked is very panto - but on first viewing I found it amazing, it was the repeat visits which ruined it for me - the jokes just aren't funny anymore!!!

As for other shows - Spamalot and Little Shop of Horrors are great. Not sure on which day they do their midweek matinee though...

Thanks for all this advice. Wicked sounds promising and I've heard that they release day seats. Mid-November mid-week matinee should not, I'd have thought, be over-subscribed so maybe we'll go to the theatre on the day and see what good seats we can get.
Thanks again
