My Nokia 7650 phone recently arrived from o2. It's on the 'online 50' tariff and so includes 500 free minutes of WAP connection per month. The phone came setup with the WAP number to dial as 07712927927 and this is the one given when the settings are downloaded from the o2 website.

After eventually reading the smallprint, however, ( I know, I should have read it before), it states that free WAP minutes can only be used with the shortcode number 915000. Does this mean I will have been charged for connecting with the old number?

I know it said in the small print, but I consider it a bit underhand if my mobile came setup with a WAP number for which I would be charged.

I get free WAP on the +447712927927 number... I subscribe to the pre-pay O2 online tariff with the 300 free WAP and texts per month.

I think it does say somewhere on the site that it is either 915000 or +447712927927 that are eligible for free WAP.

Thanks for the help - I'm just not confident in anything anymore - I'll have to get my first bill to be sure. o2 aren't really confidence inspiring.

I got a phone call this evening from someone who I think was from O2 asking me for a few minutes to "tell me how to get the most of out of their services."

I say I think because I couldn't understand her properly, so I declined her kind offer... hehe.

Why not try viewing your bill online to check you haven't been charged?

Anyway, the +4477 number and 915000 are billed at the same rate and are recognised as the same wap access number across all tarriffs, so i don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

If you do, have a go at them for having the +4477 one programmed into your phone in the first place. o2 are pretty good at giving you something free if they mess up.

07712927927 is the right number for connecting to the wap and it uses the free wap mins,and it also tells u on the o2 website,i know this cos i use it myself,i think the other number is for the older phones,cos my old pay-go is set up on short code 915000
