Corrie - Rosie discussing a SPOILER
If the job of PA at the factory that Rosie takes is long term and not just a Summer holiday job then I will lose even more faith in Corrie.
That a pupil of a posh private school would finish up working in a back street knicker factory is on a par with Leanne running a restuarant. What is wrong with soaps, none of the young people in them have ambition, work for careers, even go to school on a regular basis. This doesn`t reflect life as I know it. I have great hopes of Sophie having ambition but doubt that she will be allowed to achieve anything.

A qualified PA in a high profile business would earn good money. Carla's gopher in a backstreet factory in Manchester would be on nowt.
And how in the name of anything that's sensible would Rosie have the required skills to be a PA? |

I think actually that Carla senses that Sally is a grade A snob and just gives Rosie a job to get up her nose. Maybe Rosie is intelligent enough to answer a phone, type a letter and file letters which lets face it, that's all she would be actually doing in a knicker factory. She's hardly be organising conferences and business trips etc would she?

Surely the point would be that Rosie would be gaining the skills to go on to a better job/get promoted. Carla would want someone she could mould, not someone like Sally who would stick her oar in at every opportunity.
I agree to an extent that 'no one has any ambition' but if they did that would involve them leaving the soap to go to university, and probably not returning (why would they?). So if the actor wants to remain in the soap, a way has to be found to divert that ambition. |

I think and hope that Rosie's job will just be a Summer job, as over the past few years all the Websters and Corrie have harped on about is how brainy Rosie is and her exams, revising and being so brainy she needed to go to private school.
It will be a let down if Rosie does not go to college/sixth form. |

You don't need brains to go to a private school, just parents who can afford the fees.

I meant that Sally gave the impression she was so brainy and should go to Oakwell.

Going all the way to Emmerdale is she?? Sorry couldn't resist ![]() I've always thought it would be good if it turned out the real genius of the family was Sophie. Can you just imagine Sally's reaction..... all those wasted school fees on Rosie when her sister who goes to a regular school outshines her

Ok well in my oppinion if Rosie does begin working full time as a PA in a back street sweatshop then it will be very unrealistic.

I fail to see how it would be unrealistic. So she went to a fee paying school. So what? It doesn't make her intelligent, or experienced, or fit for a high paying city job. My other half went to public school and still paid his dues as a rigger (manual labour! eugh! *faint*) to help pay his way through university. Maybe Rosie is taking a year out? I worked behind a bar after college to make a bit of money for uni. It's called life - not unrealistic at all. Easy money, no travel, with a recommendation from the boss. I'd say Rosie was on a good thing.
