Corrie- The Battersby's Ten Year On
Its been ten years this month that the Battersby arrived in Coronation Street. Can you believe the impact they made when they first arrived in the show and how they are still so popular ten years on. The originials were brilliant. Great that Janice is still there and also Leanne even though Les has been axed from the show.

Leanne and Janice (arguably) are the only good members of the family

I think the Battersby family were great at their arrival, Janice is still great now as is Leanne Battersby. They have now expanded them to the Battersby-Browns and Cilla is good too, Les was great too and Chesney and Fiz are both great too. However Les and Cilla have had far too many comedy type storylines and not enough serious storylines because of this their popularity has been effected its a shame with Les leaving (off screen) and Cilla leaving this year which just leaves Fiz, Chesney, Janice and Leanne.
However i would also like to see Toyah return for a while too she was great. |

I have never warmed to Les but love the women.
Georgia Taylor as Toyah was especially good, the scenes where she told Janice she had been raped were exceptionally well acted |

Wow, 10 years has gone so fast...
Jane Danson and Vicky Entwistle are still excellent in their roles as Leanne and Janice and are two of the best actresses on the show! I always enjoy their scenes very much! These two are still very important characters in Corrie. |

I never liked Les at all, but Leanne has become a mainstay of the show since her return.
Not forgetting Toyah either - it's a shame she hasn't returned at some point as well. |

Janice was axed once. I personally have never cared for them. Im glad Bruce Jones has been fired as he is a vile creature.

It's a shame Bruce Jones turned out to be the bigot he is. I used to have a lot of respect for him but not anymore. They should have sacked him years ago when he first went off the rails. He was given far too many chances. |

I don't think Les is missed, and most people probably won't notice that he is gone.
I never liked Janice before, but recently she has become one of my favourites. I think it has been the recent scenes with her and Jane Danson (Leanne) which have been fab. We have seen a different side to Janice, which has been good. Cilla could have been a great character, if only they had made her less one-dimensional. It doesn't matter now that Wendi Peters is leaving, and I don't thinik she'll be missed much either. We hadrly see her anymore, and when we do she is just the same old cartoon character. That only really leaves Chesney, and I wonder what will happen to him when Cilla goes. Stay with Fiz again? Personally, I think his expiry date is up too. He used to be the cute little kid, but now he's growing up and is getting a bit dull. If he does stay in, they'll probably start the usual teenage rebellion storylines pretty soon, I'd imagine. As long as Janice and Leanne stay in the show, that's the main thing in my opinion. They are about the only interesting characters in Corrie at the moment. |

I remember the blurb before they brought in the Battersbys, about how they would be a really rough family who got everyone else's back up, but how long was it before they turned most of them into a comedy act? OK, then they brought in Toyah's rape, etc. But by that time, they were characters you could empathise with...
The same has been said about the Mortons, but now they're turning them into a comic family. Why can't Corrie bring in the Neighbours from Hell and keep them as such? There are enough reality docs about these people and the war goes on for years. It really would make a nice change... |

Last week Leanne was bleating and sobbing about 'Why does everybody hate me....I'm trying to turn over a new leaf.....why do I deserve this?' and a lot more self pitying nonsense.
Since you asked Leanne, it;s because you are a self-centeredhttp://images.digitalspy.co.uk/forum/smilies/tongue.gif , nasty, petty minded, money grabbing, selfish, ignorant whore. And the Weeble's (Janice) moral stand on her step-daughter's recent choice of career just doesn't ring true. The equally lacking in morals and atavistic bitch would, in my opinion, be encouraging rather than disapproving. |

They got it mostly right with Janice, Leanne and Toyah. Les never worked and Cilla is just as bad. Thank god he's gone and she's going. Janice and Leanne are brilliant characters and for me the two best characters on the show right now. It would be great if Toyah returned as well. I actually cried when she left - she was a great character.

I think the Battersby's were great when they first arrived, I think they've (only recently) started going past their sell-by date.
For me, the return of Leanne was not needed, and she's not been off screen since which has been slightly irritating. Chesney was a brilliant edition to the show and obviously made a huge impact...... is now one of my worst characters in Corrie. He's no longer cute, yet still being fed cute lines which make him look uncomfatarble and his lines seem to be very stiffly fed. |
