Home Hub Phone
Simple question - does the Home Hub phone (1010) have to be plugged into the wall as well as connected to the HH? Thanks.

![]() You can plug the cradle into the front of the hub or if you have the PSU that came with it, you can just plug that into any mains socket and then plug the plug at the end of the cord into the back of the cradle the hub phone sits in. |

Right. I've now got the BT1010 for the Home Hub. I've placed it in the charger, after a couple of seconds I got two beeps, the display illuminated, and it told me it was not registered. So I went onto the BT website and put in the broadband number and my password and then a tiny box appeared with 'Configure' so I clicked on that and literally in an instant it said it had been successful (or accomplished, or whatever it says). The phone's still in the charger, it still says not registered when I take it out for a moment and then place it back in (despite the website saying it would take only about a minute for the phone to be registered) and it has no display illuminated. I realise it's on its first charge (they recommend 24-hours?) but sometime during the interim will the display light up or...? How do I know it's even charging, it looks dead? Only after it's charged can I then register it? I've gone into the Home Hub Manager to click on Telephones but I'm not sure what to put in User Name - my BT e-mail or the broadband number? I've tried both but with no joy. All help appreciated.

I think it means you need to register the 1010 hub phone handset to your BT Home Hub.
To do this go to the 1010 hub phone menu there is a picture of 2 hands shaking think it says register press this. Then push and hold the "Wireless Association button" on the back of the hub for 3 seconds on the handset press OK and enter the default pin number 0000. This should register your handset to the hub. ps... Not sure why the display looks dead ive had this before but found switching it off and on again cured this. Username should be your Broadband talk phone number and password BT Supplied when you signed up. |

Home Hub Telephone
If you have a BT Home hub and are using the Voip service I suggest you try the following.
Do not buy a BT voip phone. Buy a digital wireless phone from e-bay and plug the cable into the adapter that comes with the Home hub. They cost about £15.00. Plug your normal landline phone into the filter. After you register the phone that is plugged into the router using the instructions go to the Hub manager -telephones-user/password of admin and you will see a screen showing your broadband number (mine starts with 445601xxxxxx then make sure both drop down boxes show "BT Hub Phones and Phone socket" then press apply. You will then find that if someone calls you on the landline number all phones will ring. This is not in the manual. Note you can plug any digital pushbuton phone into the socket. They are known as Dect phones You can then from the DECT phone access your landline by pressing 5 after you get the broadband dial tone. This is useful as 0800 numbers are not free on the home hub. You may also know that anyone who calls you on your internet number pays more than the landline number. Hope this helps If you need any info and i can help e-mail broadwater10@hotmail.co.uk |

Forumuser is quite correct in the registering process, and indeed Broadwater is also correct in stating that the word "admin" is both the default username and the password for the homehub i.e. type admin in both boxes to access the telephone settings. I don't mean to state the obvious but are you sure that you've also placed the rechargeable batteries that are included with the handset? Furthermore, to actually activate the line and hub you must visit this specific site www.bt.com/bbv and enter your emailed new phone number and password as opposed to the site directed from the homehub. Follow the instructions there for activating the homehub.

Just to point out, you can (as I have done) have your 056 number changed to a geographical one. Then calls to this number will be included in normal 01 or 02 tarrifs and for inclusive mobile minutes etc.

I've just installed my Home Hub and Hub phone, and all seems OK, except one thing. I wonder if anyone else has this problem, or can try it.....
1) Turn earpiece volume up to full (I expect most people already have, as it is fairly quiet, even at full volume). 2) Make a call (1471 or 1571 will do). 3) After it's connected, press the 'handsfree' button. Sound starts to come out of the loudspeaker, and after about 2 or 3 seconds, it emits a high-pitched whistle, the screen goes black and the Hub Phone reboots itself. Happens every time for me. It seems to be related to having the earpiece/loudspeaker volume on full, with it turned down a bit it doesn't seem to happen. But because there's only one volume control that sets both the earpiece and loudspeaker volume, I'm never going to remember to keep turning it down before I use handsfree. Maybe I've just got a faulty handset? Can anyone else reproduce this? Cheers. |

I followed your instructions exactly but could not reproduce your symptoms. I've only had the 1010 Handset a few weeks but I did update the handset software as soon as I set it up. Have you tried doing that? If that doesn't work then it could be a faulty handset. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you're not the only one who experiences this problem. Just for info. purposes my Homehub software is 6.2.2.6 and my 1010 Handset software is 1302 t000.

Thanks for trying. I think I already have the latest software on both the Hub and the phone. The hub software is definitely 6.2.2.6, and I've tried the software update option from the phone's menu and it says I'm already running the latest version.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a known issue? I guess I could contact BT, assuming it's a faulty handset, but to be honest I'll probably never use the handsfree option anyway! Also - does anyone else find the earpiece volume too quiet, even at full volume? (it's not a problem with my phone line, as plugging a DECT phone directly into the socket, via an ADSL filter, sounds absolutely fine and plenty loud enough). Cheers. |

I've just discovered I'm not able to make any calls over the broadband line. I get the dial tone, then when I dial a number... nothing. I've configured the settings (that little box with 'Configure') and it says all systems go so what's the problem? Anyone have any ideas before I call India? It was working fine up to last night but first time I used it today, just after 6, and nothing, like dead air.

Is the hub phone worth getting?
I've been using a standard DECT handset configured to use the homehub. Anything a BT phone can do better for me?

I just liked the idea that it powered itself from the Home Hub so didn't need to be plugged in seperately, unlike the phone I did have connected to the HH. It has about half a dozen wallpapers (only the BT splodges and the acid green digital numbers one are any good, imo) and a slightly cumbersome menu (Names, Find Entry, The Person, Show Details, Call... by which time you'd have forgotten what you were going to ring for!). And I'd really prefer the black HH and phone but hey-ho, not bitter.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has got the new firmware for the Hub Phone version 1134 t000?
It hasn't reset itself on loudspeaker so far so it appears this problem has been fixed... |
