I've just installed my Home Hub and Hub phone, and all seems OK, except one thing. I wonder if anyone else has this problem, or can try it.....

1) Turn earpiece volume up to full (I expect most people already have, as it is fairly quiet, even at full volume).

2) Make a call (1471 or 1571 will do).

3) After it's connected, press the 'handsfree' button. Sound starts to come out of the loudspeaker, and after about 2 or 3 seconds, it emits a high-pitched whistle, the screen goes black and the Hub Phone reboots itself. Happens every time for me.

It seems to be related to having the earpiece/loudspeaker volume on full, with it turned down a bit it doesn't seem to happen. But because there's only one volume control that sets both the earpiece and loudspeaker volume, I'm never going to remember to keep turning it down before I use handsfree.

Maybe I've just got a faulty handset? Can anyone else reproduce this?

Cheers.
Hi I've had the same problem myself.
Before I had the old style hub phones, the 1st one did the whistleing thing you mention - once you put it on speaker phone .It only did this after a few months of having it (after several charges and discharges).
I then bought a new hub phone as we wanted to have two, the same happenned with that phone after a few months of use.
More recently we upgraded the hub to a hub 2.0 and got the new style phone with it.
That phone seems a little better, however after around 6 months of use the whistleing problem is back!
I'm pretty sure this relates directly to the health of the batteries as putting this thing on speakerphone at full volume will always cause this problem especially if the phone has been off the charger for a few hours.
I'm going to buy some new batteries and see how it goes. It'll be a shame if new rechargables are needed every 6 months!

Interesting, I guess batteries could be the probelm. I've found that the lifetime of the rechargeable batteries in the hub phone is terrible. I found that I couldn't use it for more than half an hour with a full charge before the low battery indicator started beeping (and I would get cut off mid-call), so I bought some new rechargeable batteries for it (exactly the same ones that came with it originally) and after a couple of months I find the battery life is barely any better than it used to be.

Perhaps it's time I contacted BT to see if I can get the new style Hub and Hub Phone. Maybe they're better now?
