If you could put together any band, consisting of living or dead members, who would be in it?

I'd go for:

Bass John Entwistle (the who) Or possibly Flea from the Chili Peppers
Guitars Jimi Hendrix (the Jimi Hendrix Experience) and Slash (Guns N' Roses) They could switch lead and rhythm roles.
Drums I'd go for Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters and Nirvana). He's cool and can't half drum a bit too
Vocals Kurt Cobain (Nirvana). He could also play an extra guitar, where need be.
Piano/keyboard and backing vocals Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses) and Chris Martin (coldplay)

Perhaps maybe also get Sir Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page or Bob Dylan ( ) doing some special guest appearances.

a band with Kurt Cobain and Axl Rose! We'd get nowhere!

I'd add Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) on another guitar, maybe writing too.

Axl's out for keyboards, get Bruce Hornsby (Bruce Hornsby and the Range) or Jim Steinman (keyboards for Meat Loaf) in!

John Entwistle Bass
Ian Anderson Guitar/Flute/Vocals
Roger Taylor Drums/Vocals
Mick Jagger Lead Vocals

If Jagger wasn't up for it then I'd go for Freddie Mercury

I thought someone had done this back in the late sixties early seventies, let me think what they were called, are yes Ithink they were called Queen what a line up the parts were never better than the whole IMO. My only regret is never seeing them live I was going to go to main road in 1986 but no job ment no money thought i'd catch them next time they toured

I first saw Queen at University College London , about 1973. Just before they got big. Even then you could tell they'd be massive. A wonderful show, and brilliant musicianship.

Well, you could go on forever doing this, frankly.

Paddy McAloon circa 1986 - lyrics, composition, keyboards
Marvin Gaye circa 1970 - lead vocalist
Sinead O'Connor, Brian Kennedy and my wife - backing vocals
Jimi Hendrix - lead guitar
Jah Wobble - bass
Ringo Starr - drums
Paul McCartney - rhythm guitar

Ideally (!), they'd all have some input into composition, but Paddy would write the bulk of the material.

Now if we add this newt's tongue to the potion...

Phil Collins - drums/vocals
Brian May - guitar
Eric Clapton - guitar/vocals
Elton John- piano/vocals
Annie Lennox - lead vocals

Queen were pretty overrated players imo... Cream remain the first and best supergroup.

But anyway...

Vocals... Otis Redding
Guitars... Let's have Jimi and Jeff Beck for electric, and Lindsey Buckingham can do the acoustic stuff
Bass... Jack Bruce
Drums... Gotta be a nutter like Keith Moon or Mick Fleetwood

And it could have happened...

Lindey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks opened for Jimi Hendrix. Otis Redding of course, join Jimi on stage for Monterey Pop. Jimi, Jeff Beck and Clapton were all the guitar heroes of the 60s... Mick Fleetwood was good mates with Clapton, and started with John Mayall. And of course Jack Bruce was in Cream with Clapton.

I would have David Byrne, Bernard Sumner, Chad Smith, Tim Wheeler, Nicky Wire and any passing keyboard wizard that happened to be passing.

And they would be produced by either Trevor Horn or Rick Rubin.

I have NO idea what on earth it'd sound like, though!
