Davina & BB4 - Overkill?
I never thought i'd say this... but i am so into overkill with Davina.
She helped to make it for me in BB1/2/3 and i really loved her presenting it (along with Dermot ), but there has been such overkill of Davina on TV since last September.First "Pop Stars The Rivals" (i can hear Davina say that as i write) from Sept-Dec 2002 and then that Argggh "Reborn in the USA" Feb-March... Overkill I had heard that Kate would be sharing some presenting duties with Davina, is that true? But probably the minute Davina starts on BB4, I'll love her all over again

Well Davina is pregnant again, not sure when the little-un is due so it's possible that C4 have lined up a substitute.
However Kate will be staying on RI:SE rather than doing BB4. Zoe Ball was the rumoured substitute if Davina had dropped Holly early but I would expect Dermot to step in this time round. Davina and Big Brother go together like Bangers and Mash. |

I agree with the over Kill!
But please no Zoe Ball and certainly not Kate Lawler! I am hoping that baby stay's in Davina's stomach! Davina I admit can be irritating at times but the one thing I like about her is the way she protects the contestants when they leave the house. I remember when Adele left the house, she kept hold on to her hand and look after her. How many presenters would be so caring. If they did get someone to replace her, I think it would have to be someone who generally would support the Housemates when they left. I can't see the above doing that. Hosting BB is not just about being a great presenter. |

Davina's HM interviews have degenerated from a good standard in BB1 to downright poor in the last series. I also have to wonder if she is particularly caring, or if she just grips the housemates hands because the producers are telling her to hurry the contestant to the interview chair so that they can cut for commercial break.
That said, I'm sure she's a lovely woman, and I've nothing against her personally. I just wish she'd stop shouting and mugging to the camera and do some presenting in the way that she used to. If she can't manage that, I'd like to see Dermot taking over. |

I agree - there is only ONE presenter for BB4 - and thats Davina.....
But, if her baby stays in her stomach, she sure is in trouble, coz most babies grow in the womb..... |

I'd like to see more of the housemates opinions. Davina was starting to lose it last year.
Does anyone think that the eviction programme needs to be extended to show a better interview? |

I've said it before but I'll say it again, the woman makes my sh*t itch.
The tears on 'popstars the rivals' when that one (did he have a name, I can't remember) left for being too old was one of the corniest pieces of television I've ever seen, it was dreadful. |

her only aspect of presenting that is good is her crowd work! that is why she is a good presenter for things such as bigbrother because there is a crowd going crazy and she knows how to control them! but unlike popstars and reborn in the usa she hasnt got a crowd to control so we see her main presenting skills which are quite poor compared to other presenters out there.

Well I haven't watched the other programmes she has been on so I can't really comment, I can only judge what she had done on BB. But if she is bad as what you all say about her in the other programmes she had done, then I have to believe you all if that whats the majority think. I do agree as pointed out in a previous that her interviewing skills did dwindle somewhat last year.
I just think if they are going to replace her then it has to be someone who will put a protecting arm around the contestants and can combat the hostility of the crowd. I can't see Zoe doing that and I don't believe Kate would be as comforting to the HM's once leaving the house. |

Davina's baby is due in September, I think.
I think she will be able to do all the shows. |

I do think Davina is becoming more and more like Rene Ancona's impersonation on Alistair Magowans show.
She does seem to be going more and more manic, with each programme and episode she does. |

![]() But I agree Davina is part of Big Brother and without her I dont think it would be the same, even though I am finding her a bit grating nowadays. |

Can't stand Davina and her hysterics myself. Either she is very stupid or she thinks the audience is. Also, she follows the party line too much and conspires in misrepresentation. I'd love to see someone who was prepared to take the piss out of the format a bit but I'm sure Endemol wouldn't allow that.

Dermott is ok in his own little way, but too housematey himself to be much different from the peeps he'd be interviewing(he'd be better AS a housemate!) and a bit too full of 'media-speak' more than five minutes of that would be too grating...Kate? bleurggh!....and as for Zoe..euuuuuwwww..yuk!.......Actually, the only other person that I can think of who would be good in davina's role is Anna from BB1...think she would be brill!!!!!! just my humble opinions of course!! anyway looking forward to it all again, and the ructions in here! I dont understand why they chose Davina in the first place. She is ok, and even the interviews are ok but went downhill last year. She was trying to push interviews in certain directions etc that just werent there. She was in her 30s back in 2000 too (I think).
To me, Davina is mainstream saturday night ITV presenter. It doesnt really tie in with my impression of Channel 4 Big Brother. Youth TV wise, to me shes early-mid 1990s. Always turning up in these sort of youth tv programmes then. I dont know what the production team are thinking. And the amount of programmes she is presenting, I just cant understand what is going on. Its ridiculous. People say that presenters are hard to find but I just dont think this is true. I reckon they could try a newbie each year to give each year a unique feel. When someone fills in for 5 live presenters on Radio 5 live I usually enjoy them more. Whoever it is, its the interview thats important. Asking the relevant questions and not pushing them down roads etc. I thought the Jade BJ interview stuff last year was really seedy. Bring in a newbie each year |

Just thought I would add my twopenneth on Davina. Last year she was pretty awful - the interviews were very very poor, and excessively one sided questioning. Nothing against Davina and I actually quite liked her style in 'Pop Idol' stuff... but surely we are ready for a change in BB4? If not then I hope she has a change of style in this series.
Dermot also dropped massively last year - he just looked so bored... but then we all were - BB3 will hopefully be remembered for the very worse series ever so that we never get anything as bad again from the lessons learnt. I wonder how many of the original production and selection team were 'sacked' after the series ended? |

I agree with Johnno, I think last year's BB was so bad that Dermot & Davina were both bored and downright embarrassed by it. Let's hope there's a return to form all round.

), but there has been such overkill of Davina on TV since last September.
