Very VERY longshot-French pop song from late 1980`s/early 90`s
Goy a phone call last night from an old friend I haven`t seen in over 15 years.
It was great to catch up. Now years ago me and this friend went to Paris on holidays for a few years on the trot (from 1987-1992) How we were chatting about things and for some reason he mentioned a pop video which we both remembered but can`t for the life of us remember the singer. We think the song was called "C`est la vie" and the video was a cartoon where two posters were put up on opposite sides of the street, one of a man (the singer in cartoon form we think) and one a woman. Now as the song is playing the man in the poster and the woman in the poster `come to life` (still in cartoon form) and fall in love. As the video ends a man arrives and puts another poster over the poster of the man therefore the Lovers are no more. Now, and I know it`s a LONG LONG shot but those this song/video ring any bells with anyone else? |

It sounds like it could be Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul.
No, it was definetly a French song, I`m guessing 1989. |

Never heard of it so had a look on YouTube but nothing useful - unless it's a 1987 disco/electro sort of thing by Alexander Robotnik (who is Italian but it was released in France).

This just gets weirder..... the `old` friend just rang again about 10 mins ago( 15 years nothing then 2 calls) and mentions that the singer we were trying to remember was a famous poker player too (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and is called Patrick Bruel.
A VERY longshot has anyone heard of him? Thanks to all who took the trouble to reply

"His first single, "Vide" ("Empty"), released in 1982, was not a success, but the follow up, "Marre de cette nana-là" ("Fed up with that chick"), was a hit." Hmm no mention of a song called C'est La Vie though could be the "Marre de cette nana-là" one?

If I recall from that era, the only French songs I recall being sung were by Vanessa Paradis - 'Joe Le Taxi' and at least one other song whose name I forget ...

Not many French songs make it here sadly
Ones that I can remember are Joe Le Taxi - Vanessa Paradis (album M&J is excellent) Voyage Voyage - Desireless (1988) Moi Lolita - Alizee (another excellent album Gourmandises) Plus a great track done by Jaki Quartz called 'A la Vie A l'Amour' produced by Stock Aitken Waterman in 1989 - just failed to make the Top 40. Got the 12in single but wish I could find it on mp3. Lots of great stuff has come from France which sadly many British listeners have not heard. My faves are Mylene Farmer - saw her live in Paris - all her stuff is great Elsa Helene Segara Pauline Croze |

It could be C'est Le Vie by Robbie Neville (great track)
French Kiss by Lil Louis from 1989 which was a instrumental with a woman moaning in it (very sexy) Voyage Voyage by french singer Desireless or Desiree in 1988 |
