I am thinking of getting a Sony ericsson T300 and when i asked a bloke at Carphone Warehouse he told me that it would be unlocked on o2. Can anybody confirm that this is true? Thanks

Answer not likley unless O2 have changed policy on unlocking pay as you go phones very recently. Try a sim card from another network in it before you buy! O2 Contract phones are certainly unlocked.

If you buy a phone on o2 PAYG at the cpw, it will certainly be unlocked. They just take what'd they sell as network free, and pop in a o2 sim card. I recently bought a 3510i for my girlfirend from them, that isn't locked.

I recently got the phone you are thinking of getting on contract and i sent it back cos it was crap ,if u getting it so you can take pictures i can tell u thats the reason why i sent it back, if you have the money my brother has just bought the Nokia 7250 with cam built on it but will cost you about £327.99, sim free and unlocked for all networks and the pictures are a lot better 4096 colours and the ericsson t300 only has 256 colours,u can always get it and try it out and if you dont like it ,i think u can take them back...

If you buy it from carphone warehouse they have a 14 day exchange guarentee (i.e. if you don't like the phone they'll exchange it)

Or you can ask for a demonstration in-store

Or you can pay £10 for club mowbli, get a 28 day money back guarantee, 10% off all accessories, water damage insurance, and the cutest keyring you've ever seen!

Since last year O2 have now started blocked their phones. When I had a PayG phone it wouldn't let me setup the Call Waiting feature, but since I have gone contract I can use that feature.

Also I have read that they are now doing something with the Sim Card that if you try any other instead of the one that came with the phone. The phone will lock up on you. I don't know O2 have started this yet, but I think it is the pipeline. It's mainly to stop people nicking other people's phone.

I think you mean locked. All Pay as You Go phones are locked. Contract phones aren't. Sim Free phones aren't locked either. This has been the case probably since they started.

When I had a PayG phone it wouldn't let me setup the Call Waiting feature, but since I have gone contract I can use that feature.

Thats because call waiting is not available on Pay as You Go on O2.

They did this years ago with Pay as You Go on their U tarrif. Mostly it was horrible Phillips Diga's! They don't do this any more. Who would want to nick a Diga anyway?

Damn. He didn't tell me about the keyring - that would have been the untimate selling point

I'm on o2 PAYG and my phone isn't blocked...

Again, not true. I put in a one2one sim in my o2 phone and it still works

CDS, its locked not blocked.

What's the difference then?

Locked refers to a phone which has been "locked" onto ONE network.
Blocked refers to a phone which has had its PIN entered incorrectly 3 times, and now requires a PUK.

Oops.. my mistake

My point still stands, I've yet to see an o2 phone which is locked... mine isn't.

i also have an 02 PAYG phone, as can be seen in my profile, which is locked to 02.
I belive it is only contract phones which are not locked. All PAYG phones are. (to my knolodge)

Just a quick question, how do PUK codes work exactly? They say that they expire after a certain amount of time, and only work on that particular SIM. How are they gererated? are they verified by the network when typed in? Any answers appreciated
