Is it just me or do TaTu deserve all the bad press they get as their attitude is disgusting, they caused problems on TOTP and now CD:UK.

They showed an attempted interview with them and the spikey haird one went crazy, shouting stuff in Russian and refusing ti stand up! Cat ripped the piss a bit which was good!

Stupid drama queens what they are. The clearly can not sing, and now they cant talk either!!

They are just a novelty band whose appeal is fading very quickly. They arent particularly attractive either.

I think the Cheeky Girls are better.

I've never seen any interviews or anything, but I think it's a shame that the whole tabloid furore has overshadowed what, I think, is pretty decent music.

I'm not going to buy it or anything, because it's not really thing I listen to, but their first single had a kickass drum beat and their vocal delivery was very effective. It's quite refreshing to hear them on TOTP as it's very different from the normal chart stuff.

They're awful. I saw them perform for the first time the other day... It's cringeworthy stuff. I told everyone they'd last about a year. Eurovision is their last stand. It would be hilarious if they got zero points.

Two kickass, well-produced pop songs, a questionable publicity campaign, but any band who encourage nubile girls to put on school uniforms and lez off has got to be a good thing

Their manager is much more sinister than either of them, btw

If dressing up as schoolgirls is encouraging paedophilia, then you should probably arrest every porn magazine/website/movie maker in the world. You should also take steps to shut down "schooldisco.com" too...

Sorry, but just because they're in school uniforms it doesn't make them schoolgirls.

Not to mention the ITC having to ban Grange Hill.

Paedophilia ain't a good thing. School uniforms are. That's a big difference.

Yes thats correct. He was arrested in Moscow after gathering hundreds of teenage girls together to take part in a video for the two drama queens.

No, he was arrested for causing a public nuisance, and released with a warning.

Well I think we need a bit of attitude in our music. I find the sanitised music we often get served up to be more offensive than TaTu. It doesn't matter to me whether they are lesbians or not, and if they are exploiting that way of life, then so what? Would they be exploiting hetero-sexual lifestyles if they went down that route?

I like them, and my Granddad, who works in the music industry, laughed and shook his head when he first saw TaTu. But he was doing that in admiration of the way TaTu are managed. Even if they are manipulated in some way, it is no more than bands have often been treated, including the Beatles, Stones, Pistols, Wham, etc. And even worse, Hearsay and the like.

There was also an interview with them in Q magazine last month. The guy that did the interview (a respected music journalist of some years standing) said that they were two of the most obnoxious people he had ever met, and the photographer even called them a couple of c**ts as well.

I think the 15 minutes is over. And boy do they deserve it.

I read that interview as well.. I also read on in the Metro which said "..this is the only 60 second interview which actually lasted for 60 seconds". They also gave the same view in that interview as well.

They said that about The Sex Pistols' as well.

Yes but the Sex Pistols knew what they were, and they were right for the time. They were punk obnoxious youths.

TaTu are just pre-madonnas. I saw TaTu coming when I discovered them last year. They will be gone very, very soon.

"When I discovered them last year" ...easy now PJ, you're sailing close to the Peej Kerton Music Knowledge Arrogance Line there.

How can you presume to know either TaTu or the Pistols well enough to judge their self-awareness? From what i can see, both are equally marketed as some sort of shock-tactic anti-establishment figures, equally cynically. Whether the two girls of TaTu are obnoxious, rude and arrogant, i do not know (i suspect they are, however), but John Lydon is possibly the most self-absorbed, manufactured self-parody in the music world. To my mind, the parallels are direct - and to say TaTu aren't right for 2003 in the same way the Pistols were right for 1977 is completely short-sighted.

I don't really care for either of the girls (or their manager), but then again i always thought the Pistols were horrifically overrated, so it probably figures. I like the way that TaTu's shenanigans have exposed the press as a bunch of hypocrites, but if they disappear off the face of the earth after this single, i won't lose any sleep.

I think he sailed right away from it again with 'pre-Madonnas' though!

Fact is, in a year, they won't even exist. Why? Because they haven't got a personality between them, and they're probably the most abysmal performers I've ever seen in my life. The idea is okay... Shame they couldn't find a couple of girls who could pull it off.

Surely that would negate the lesbian conceit?

Indeed, luckily his penchant for the predecessors of 80s pop stars negated both his superior attitude and also any thoughts i had of ever taking him seriously

I could find a couple of girls who would pull it off...for a tenner down near the bus station
