how do I know how much space left on camera's SD card?

I have a 1GB SD card in my camera. It's a Canon powershot S2IS.
How can I tell how much space is left/how many photos I can still take before it's full?

Also does anyone know the fastest, biggest storage card that this camera will support? I read somewhere it doesn't support the new ultra fast Sandisk (Ultra 111??).

cheers.

You can tell how many shots left in the bottom-right of the display when in shooting mode. See page 29 of the manual. I just looked at it on the Canon website.

Don't know about the SD card question tho.

thanks, that's a big help. I have taken over 700 shots and still have 191 left on a 1GB card which sounds a lot?!
I never delete anything that's even half reasonable

Forget about fast cards, studies have shown this to be of little help for considerable extra expense.

Normal SD cards go upto 2GB. Beyond that is SDHC territory which most cameras do not support.
