Internet phone unlocking scam
I paid nearly £5 for a remote unlocking code then they told me they couldn't unlock it but suggested I ask the network for the code. When I asked for a refund they said I had paid for information to unlock my phone and that was it!! What a scam!

Let me guess, was this company unlock telecom or unlock mob by any chance? Read reviews about them on the web and they seem to be taking people for a ride. It's in their terms and condition exactly which handsets they unlock (and it's the ones the free nokia software unlock) but they people seem to miss the info.
Someone should complain to consumer direct about them. |

Same as that scam a few years ago "Send £5 and I'll tell you how to cut your electricity bills" , which turned out to be "Stop using things which use electricity" - does exactly what it says on the tin.

Yourself. You ticked the box to agree to the Terms when you requested the code. If you'd have read them you'd have noticed that they supply information on the best way to unlock the phone.

I'd contact consumer direct as I expect that they're in breach of consumer law. Also since they haven't supplied you a service then you can request a refund under the distance selling regulations.
Search for "Consumer Direct" on the web and drop them a message. |
