Sony RDR HXD860 Switches off and looses settings

Does anyone have a problem with the Sony RDR HXD860 (160Gb) HDMI Machine? The RDR is connected via Scart Cable (Fully Wired) to a Sony Bravia LCD screen.
Nothing else connecter. I do get some ghosting that needs to be resolved. Anyway after a while the RDR will freeze for about 14 seconds. the screen has lots of horizontal lines bit like American format. then the RDR will say welcome and LCD reverts back to DTV (Internal) and then a few seconds pass and the RDR shuts down.

When i switch the RDR back on the DVD light comes on and apears to be on line 1 output. No matter what i set to the result is the same. Sometimes the RDR will switch of several times. Prior to the scart i had it on HDMI with the odd crashing etc. need to test it more with HDMI.

Can anyone please shed some light on this problem.
I am not clear if i should return the RDR or wait for a firmware update.. Thanks for any help.

I have the HXD560 model with the same problem. It has worked fine for 4 months but froze on channel 5 a few days ago, switched off, then back on again, but with no tuned program because it had reverted to line 1 input.Pressing the input select button a few times brings everything back.
It has done this a number of times on channel 5 and twice at switch-on with channel 1.I have done the usual power-off reset and retune, but the problem is still there.
Looking at other posts there are similar problems with other Sony products.
Since mine is still under warranty,I shall be taking this up with the supplier.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I've just returned from two weeks holiday. While I was away, I set my 860 (4 weeks old) a long list of titles to record.

For some reason, when recording House on Channel 5, sometimes it recorded the whole episode in one go, other times it split the episode up into 2 or 3 parts.

I got back today, the timer for tonight's house episode was already set, but I watched it as it was recording and the machine powered off 3 times.

Is this just a problem with Channel 5 or is my machine buggered?

No the problem is believed to be caused by the auto update function. Appears to effect only Ch5 programs.

Switch off auto update and you should be fine. My problems started 3rd July.

Exactly the same thing happened to me last night. It continued through Shark which was also reccorded in three chunks.

It continued switching off while I watched the Tour de France, which had been recorded cleanly from ITV4 earlier in the evening. It was still
recording Shark when I started to watch so some of the power interruptions were after Shark had finished recording - but I suppose it was still tuned to channel 5 in the background.
