thought i'd check here first

i'm switching back to BT from Virgin, an openreach engineer called on saturday, plugged a gadget into my old BT line(not used for 9 years) & within 2 minutes was leaving the house saying "that's you"
he said it would be ok to use anytime within the next 24hrs
he also said Virgin would switch off my line the soon as BT was ready to use because i'm keeping the same number when i switch (even though i'm contracted to Virgin for another couple of weeks)
48hrs later i can make calls from my BT line but can't receive any
but my Virgin line is still working, outgoing & incomming calls

is there something wrong with the BT line?
should i contact BT?
or should i keep using the Virgin line till i get cut off then see if i can receive calls then?
the later i don't fancy doin' because i may end up with no incoming calls if i have a problem

any help would be appreciated

Thanx

I'd check with BT, they may simply say it's not come to switch over date yet, however Virgin are dreadful for screwing up transfers and cancelling phone services, so you have to be careful when you ask them about it as you could end up having them disconnect you line before the number has been transferred to BT.

VM should automatically disconnect your cable line once the number port has gone through.

Virgin have now change the porting time to transfer a number. You now have to give 30 days notice, therefore it takes 30 days for bt to request your number, so the virgin guy was telling me yesterday.

Good luck with bt though, I have spent over 4 hours trying to get through to someone this week about my reconnection of my old bt line, finally got through yesterday after a 90 min wait, when I got through I cancelled my order.
