I hope it is the new S/W V1/ playback etc for the T810 in the later months
![]() ![]() Not to sure though that the Vestel update in "coming soon", is actually referring to the new T816 download on the 20th. Hopefully I'm wrong on this. |

Yep, just as I feared. Just checked the Digital Group Page, and it is now showing:-
Coming soon Repeat downloads: Sony New downloads: TechnoTrend No sign of Vestel Ah well, hopefully they (Vestel) will get around to putting out another update for the 801 at some point over the next couple of months or so. |

They must have removed Vestel's 'coming soon' within the last hour or so, I'd not long checked and it was there

In a word Steve, no. The DTR0207 is a rebadged Vestel T810 so this upgrade won't apply.
Jazza! Okay my digihome is a PVR80 and looking at the sticker on its bottom it says that it was from Argos and that it is a 810. electronically and when a firmware is available it will compare certain bits in the firmware to see if the one available suites the hardware. Would the twin record software I modded my 810 with not have changed that information making it to think that it is a 816? maybe the bit of code that checks what model is below the bonnet looks for hardware rather than software version etc? someone please shed some light on this? regards |

What I can say, from e-mail correspondence with Vestel, is that last September when I first e-mailed them with bugs/issues in the single record software back then (when I bought my first Digihome) was that twin record software for the T810 was in the works and would run on the existing T810 hardware, planned for release end October 2006. Obviously this never happened for whatever reason. Next the v1.0 twin record software appeared on the net around Christmas time which is where I saw it for the first time like everybody else. I mailed Vestel in January regarding testing updated twin record software and was informed that the twin record software used 64Mb dram instead of 32Mb. Which meant it did not work with the T810 PVRs. Somewhat disappointing and to this day I've not been able to get an answer as to exactly why or if twin record software will ever appear for the T810, and indeed where the v1.0 twin record software came from and why it could not me developed further .So that's my theory as to why it was not Vestel (well, the main office in Turkey at least) that leaked the v1.0 twin record software, otherwise I would probably had received it from them to test too - at the time I was testing single record software updates for them. Maybe Cabot developed the v1.0 twin record software, and now Vestel in Turkey are developing the twin record software for the T816 themselves. I mean, the Daewoo, for example, uses Cabot's middleware - their software is very similar to the Digihome's, but essentially with just a different "skin", and this is being developed independently. So, it's conceivable that there are at least 3 different branches of this twin record software in development by different teams (using common base code). |

thank you very much for your post. now this gives me a bit of rest.
another question that keeps banging my head is there going to be any firmware development for 810 when the 816 seems to be the new kid on the block? And I don't mean bug fixes even though these would be welcome as well. |

If I were to guess, I'd say v5.3 single record is the final update the T810 boxes are going to see, but I hope to be proved wrong. That said, I'm not so sure all the effort is being directly at the T816, seeing as v3.4 was built at the end of April, which means only 3 updates in the last 3 months. Will be interesting to see how different v3.7 is compared to v3.4.

Oh well, looks like the aren't broadcasting it. I wonder why they don't put the software releases on the internet, so we could do them ourselves?

Nope - my T816 still doesn't find anything. Have also tried my single record and v1.0 twin record T810 boxes too, just in case the update wasn't for the T816 after all
. But, no, I've yet to see the v3.7 twin record software. |

Software upgrade
Help!
My Didgihome pvr160 seems to be stuck on version 4.4 Despite it being permanently on automatic download I haven't received any upgrades. I've been waiting for this week-end's download but nothing seems to be happening. I'm still getting the message 'no new software found' even when I do a manual scan. Has anyone been able to upgrade this weekend? Any suggestions? |

Has anyone been able to upgrade this weekend? Any suggestions? The update being broadcast this weekend is directed at T816 based PVRs (second generation), which appear to have only just hit the shops over the past week or so. They may look the same externally, but the hardware inside is slightly different to the T810. You clearly have a T810 model as you're running v4.4 single record. The T816 model is twin record, and there has never been any single record software for it. Having said all that, I'm half wondering if the update currently being broadcast has been a mistake. Nobody here has mentioned that they're T816 did update - mine refuses to, but that might just be because my test box dates back to February and may differ from the retail version. |

Depends how long you've had it... IIRC, the last update broadcast (v5.3 single record) for the T810 based PVRs was back in February, so if you bought the PVR after that, then that's why it hasn't updated.
Isn't this an utterly daft way of supplying upgrades? If you miss one by a few days, like I did, how long do you have to wait before the next one arrives? |

Mine wont either, the automatic update hasn't picked anything up, when i scan it either sits there doing nothing or the progress bar fills up and it finds nothing.
What is the update supposed to resolve? I haven't had any problems yet. I'm not aware of the issues that have been fixed between v3.4 and v3.7. However, if you take a look at the T816 project at http://pvrbugs.futaura.co.uk/ most (if not all) of the green resolved issues there were resolved since v2.4. Those are just the issues that I reported, so no doubt there are other fixes too. One thing that may have changed in v3.7, again, are the skip buttons. v1.9 had 1 minute skip buttons in addition to the usual 30 second skip buttons that the single record firmware has. By v3.0 the 30 second skip buttons were gone and the 1 minute skip buttons now skip 2 minutes, which doesn't work too well for 3 or 5 minute adbreaks .
