I've just had the following message from root@p4-7030.uk2net.com:

Firmware has been added to the Transmission Schedule for your Vestel Dual OVR160 [sic].

This is a Provisional Transmission of Version and should be available on Mux 1 from 10am on Saturday 3rd February until 9am on Monday 5th February.

What year, they don't say

If the information provided to Parthena is true, then it is a disgrace

Does any one have an email address for Vestel that we can complain to?

Seems ridiculous to me, my satellite box manufacturers put the updates on their website for you to download, why can't vestel? It would be much more sensible.

I think that must be some sort of glitch in the automated mailer, since I guess that refers to the v5.3 update back in February this year.

Probably part of the reason is that it would seem Vestel prefer to steer well clear of end-user support - hence why there are no Vestel branded PVRs here in the UK at least, and instead it's up to the retailer, etc, to provide customer support themselves. IIRC, the telephone number in the T810's sold by Argos is an Argos helpline.

Were you not able to receive the T816 update over the weekend either? Did you try manually scanning for an update too?

I did try manually scanning, and I didn't get anything. Still showing software 2.4. Bluebell hill transmitter. Is there anyway to get hold of the latest firmware? Can it be extracted from a upgraded machine via hyper terminal, like it can be uploaded?

If you download the twin-record software, 4.9 single-record is included and you can use hyperterminal with a straight-thru serial extension cable to upgrade your Digihome.

I don't think there's any way to get 5.3, but I also don't think there would be a major advantage with it anyway.

Sorry for the slightly late response (6+months, ). I've only just seen this post now as I was searching for something else.

I only know of DVB Stream Explorer and dcDVBSource capable of capturing updates. Only the payed-for full version of DVBSE allows you to save, but you can explore parts of the data with the trial version.

dcDVBSource is free but I never could get it working because it relies on being a plug-in filter to Windows Media Player or Zoom Player, with particular video card requirements in Directx 9. You may have better luck if you have a fully compliant video card.

DigiTV from the Nebula people includes a DSM-CC plugin which allows you to capture MHEG objects, but so far I've not found a way of capturing downloads with it.

That was a cruel trick . When I saw the highgligted thread title I thought we were going to get something on 20th July 2008!!!. What a let down.

Oops! I was so overcome with guilt at not replying that I never thought to look at the title! Better let sleeping threads lie in future.

The irony is that I had the same reaction as you when I read the title, not even realising I was the one who bumped it!
