iPod Help?
Mikey_

I hope someone can help me. Today my iPod froze as was selecting a song, so I had a look on the internet for what to do. Most websites said I should hold the center button and menu for about 10 seconds to restart it.

But when I did this, I got the black and white picture of the apple, then a message saying I need to connect my iPod to iTunes. So when I got home, I connected it to iTunes, and it told me that I have to restore my iPod to the factory settings. I didn't do this, because I know that it would remove all of my files, but I assume they are already gone if I'm getting that message.

I don't have a back up of my music, purely because the reason I purchased an iPod was to clear up space on the my hard drive.

Can anyone help me get my music back?

So I'm guessing its not in iTunes then? The music that is.

Sorry, but if you don't back up your music you are simply asking for trouble. Try burning your music to DVD's. I keep all of mine backed up to DVD. It's saves space on my HD and if naything goes wrong I have a copy. I think you may have possibly just learned a very harsh lesson.

Was your ipod set up for disk use? Can you see it in my computer when you connect to pc?

If you can, go into the ipod directory, and copy and paste the music directory (not sure what its called) to your desktop (or anywhere really).

Restore your ipod, then make sure itunes is set to automatically organise your music, and import the folder you copied from the ipod into itunes.

It will put all the songs in the correct folders, then you can sync and hopefully will work ok.
