Hi all

I have had my trusty Analogue Tuner Sony 510 for all of about 18 months and during that time had the dvd drive replaced.
Well tonight it has decided to not play any of the content on it's 80GB HDD. As the unit just locks up I have to hold the power button down for a minute to get it to shut down.
I don't suppose it's worth getting fixed

So what model should I replace it with?.....as I haven't been keeping up with the model numbers, (they are so confusing nowadays) and thought I was going to be OK with the 510 until 2012 when Analogue gets switched off in this area.

The 80GB HDD was fine as recorded everything in LP. Still need Scart connections as the TV is the old CRT type and have a VCR connected as well for copying tapes to HDD.
I really like the Playlist edit features that I have got used to. I hope these have remained as good on the newer models.
The main things I disliked/missed were.-
Limited slow motion features, I would like to have more choice ie half/quarter/eighth speed. At present I have to press pause then forward or back and the pic moves slowly thats it.
No repeat A to B feature where you set two points and it plays between these two points continously.
I don't have an EPG so know nothing about this..... however in my timer listings I am always looking and saying what's that one for? Is there a way to write a name next to the timer setting so that it can be easily identified?
Have these appeared/improved on the newer models?

And what sort of price would I expect to pay?

I brought the 510 from Curry's for the bargain price of £350!!!!.

Thanks for any help or advice.

I should have a look at the new 870, it includes both analogue and Freeview.

Thanks Nigel

Just placed my order for a 870 at Sound and Vision for £223 including delivery.
And it should arrive on Tuesday.

I managed to get a few important programs off my old Sony 510. It hung up after every action. So in the end the next time I got it to come on instead of copying something I went into tools and disc info to format the HDD. After 5 minutes of formatting it completed and....... everything = recording to HDD, dividing, deleting, playlist and even recording from a laptop into the front line 2 i/p works..... But for how long!!!
