Ah, that would make sense. Tho' it makes it easier for the US contestants than the UK ones

In DWTS, they dance Smooth rather than Standard, and this applies to all of the ballroom dances.

They seem to dance "out of hold" alot - different to SCD - I did not recognise the marks - way over the top

Laila was good, and her partner reminds me of BC

What's the difference, apart from that they can dance out of hold? Or is it very technical, in which case I won't understand!

Max is such an awesome dancer. He used to compete with Elena before she turned to Rhythm with Tony. They were within the top 12 in the world together.

Must say that I thought the camerawork was much better than SCD's .
Still room for improvement though.

Not at all, that is pretty much the only difference. And that they don't have a Smooth Quickstep . . . so they'll be dancing Standard for that one.

Ok thanks
I think it will be a while before I can watch them breaking hold without thinking they are doing it wrong!

I agree camera work was better- still some dodgy angles, but they don't seem to have that annoying cameraman running around the couple very fast and nearly knocking them over.

I really really liked the theme tune such happy memories roll on October - I think I'm having SCD withdrawal symptoms - not bad tho considering its American but do agree it certainly needs Craig

I've seen a couple of clips of past series on Ralph Pungin's site, so was expecting to see the variations and strange interpretations of the Ballroom dances. I'm not keen on lifts in a Waltz for instance, which I'm sure we'll see in the coming weeks.

But I really enjoyed the show, and well done to the BBC for showing it! It would be nice to see the Aussie version one day too, we'd probably recognize more of their soap actors and celebs.

I was agog at seeing the opening number to an old Sweet song from the 1970s, then remembered it was called "Ballroom Blitz"!

Really surprised to see Aussie Kym Johnson as one of the Pros. She was engaged to Oz Cricketer Shane Watson - [pic with Brett Lee & Partner] http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/5208...3876A48233D4E0 - in 2005, when, like BC, she won and fell in love with her partner on the Aussie DWTS and dumped Shane.

Come to think of it, she loks pretty close to Joey Fatone in this pic too: http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/7407...A671D801FFC518

I think it was good having 3 Judges, as they all got a say, unlike our version, when through the constraints of time, some Judges are overlooked and cannot comment on every Contestant. You can see them chomping at the bit, so maybe that's something for the BBC to consider.

Obviously it was edited down to exclude the adverts, but I really enjoyed how the show flowed, with little interruption or meanderings from the host, and the lady asking the questions backstage kept it brief and wasn't irritating.

Enjoyed the music choices overall, but still prefer the classics for a Foxtrot, not modern pop. Nice mix of celeb contestants - the Pros are a bit full-on, but that's America, I guess. Love those strict Russian Pros!

Good show! LOL and YAY for Len, with his "cheese roll & cuppa tea" Bless!

They're allowed to do lifts as well? I actually think the no-lift rule in SCD is quite fair, and it also makes the showdance, AS and AT more special.

I think Craig would have been a better choice of judge than Bruno. I did spend the entire programme trying to decide what score he would have given each dance.

Must agree, it was weird hearing the same theme tune, and announcer, who does the Lottery balls! Same titles too.

I liked the simple camera angles aswell, let's hope the BBC bods are watching and get the hint.

Generally their dancing is alot more Freestyle for the Ballroom, but I prefer ours.

I know! I guess she does both shows! Shane Warne's wife was on one of the Aussie DWTS too. There's usually some clips available on the channel 7 website.

I agree. The first I saw of it was when that tall model who was married to Rod Stewart [and whose name I can't remember] came over to dance with Brendan in the Special, and I looked up clips of her on the US DWTS and was all and at her Waltz, which included about 3 lifts and drag moves. And alot of choreo out of hold, so well weird for Ballroom if you ask me, but I guess it's entertainment.

dippydozy, just noticed your location LOL!
After Kym dumped Shane, it led to KP retaliating after some sledging, "aw, don't have a go at me just cos no-one loves you anymore".
Apparantly the entire Aussie Team were impressed by that sledge!
