Is this Mobile any good.I have seen it here http://www.thelink.com/store/martlin...gory_oid=-9552

£159 on Orange with a 5 free txts a day text saver pack which would suit me.Anyone know how much the text saver pack is on its own as I have seen the T68i here http://www.mobileshop.com/mobilephon...icssont68i.php
and its only £129

I am not even sure if this is the Phone i want.So does anyone know any better deals ?

If you are going for Sony Erricson, i would get one of the newer ones, that one only has 256 Colour. Newer ones have got more colours.

so 256 colours is not good enough then ?

The T68i (or rather its previous incarnation, the T68) was one of the first mainstream phones to have a colour screen. Most new phones tend to have 4096 colour screens against the T68i's 256, at higher resolution.

Having said that, the screen and the lack of Java are the only two criticisms that can really be levelled at the T68i. More than a year after its release, it's still one of the best in its class -- there still isn't a Nokia which offers the same features for the same price.

This compares the T68i with its replacement due this month the T610.

Ps The T610i looks much better on the SE site - this isnt the best picture of it.

Having used the T68i for about a year now my only complaints about the phone relate to its speed and reception.

Menus and text message entry can be a tad slow at times and this is with the latest firmware update. Sent messages also having an annoying "feature" in that the date and time isn't logged which results in the phone getting a tad confused at times when you try to browse them.

Reception while generally okay is a little lacking when the signal isn't too strong. A Nokia in the same spot on the same network seems to handle the low signal strength a lot better.

Having said all of that I wouldn't switch back to my old Nokia 7110 and would move up to the T610 if I felt an upgrade was in order.

I've had a T68 since 2001 and I'm quite happy with it. I wouldn't worry too much about the colour depth, The display works fine for what it has to do, and it doesn't seem limited in any way. It is only a smallish screen so you are unliikely to perceive any shortcomings in colour depth. Any phone I use has to be reliable first and foremost. The T68 is reliable. it goes up to 10 days between charges and it is easy to conceal.

I may upgrade to a T610, but otherwise, any contract upgrade would have been to another T68. Whenever I have been into a shop to consider an upgrade, I come away thinking I already have the best phone on offer.

Thanks people.

I am going to decide between the t68i or the new Motorola c350.

I think the T68i looks nicer. The motorola looks a bit messy the way the buttons are layed out or is that just me that thinks that ?

I'd definitely go for the T68i. From what I can see on the Motorola website, the c350 doesn't even support MMS, and there is no IrDA functionality, let alone Bluetooth.

Oh right.didn't know that.

Guess I am going for the T68i.Will just have one last look around to see if its still the best phone for me.

I have just found this website http://cyren-communications.co.uk/pa...ou_go.htm#t68i
It has the T 68i for £124.99. I was going for the same phone but from the link at £159.99 but it has the text saver pack which I thought was quite good.5 free texts a day for a year ! So anyone know if you can buy the text saver pack on its own and how much it is ?

Oh yeah has anyone used Cyren communications before?

Oh I just found it for £150 with text saver pack from the orange website and it says the text saver pack is worth £20

How can it only be £20 when you are saving way more than that with 5 free texts a day for a year or is there a catch ?

Hi Gav, i bought my T68i from Cyren Communications at this price a couple of weeks ago, no problems at all. The text saver pack can be bought on its own, best deal i've seen is from www.freedom-mobiles.com , they sell it for only £14.99, a saving of 5 quid, i ordered this pack yesterday and got it today.

The text saver pack includes a card with a scratch off number. Once you get you card you call up Orange and key in the number and it adds your £5 topup and automatically credits your phone number with five free texts per day.

emm just something i noticed while looking at the polyphonic ringtones on a website.it said that the ringtones on this website were played on some nokia phone and it had 18 tracks so depending on your phone it may not sound as good as it does on the website.Never knew there was a diffrence till now.

So does anyone know how many tracks the t68i has ?

Thanks
Gav

The T68 doesn't have polyphonic ringtones.

oh I thought it did.oh well

Polyphonic ringtones are no big deal. They do sound good, but ringtones are a function, and so if it's music you want, you could get a little MD player. If you do need polyphonic ringtones, then get a T610.

£250 on Vodafone (£130 on contract).

I ended up buying one last week having had the chance to see it demonstrated. It's a wonderful little phone, especially if you're an ex-T68i owner.

Having said that mine's going back for two reasons. An annoying hiss on the speaker (confirmed to be a hardware fault on early batches) and the most intrusive Vodafone live! customisations I've yet to see. They've totally ruined Sony's excellent menu layout with their monstrosity and I've been told it can't be removed by re-flashing the firmware.

Methinks I'll wait for the SIM free model to arrive.
