OK so here is a brand new thread for us to come up with a plan for how to get the footage of the final mission aired...

This was AngelRose's idea:

Now that Alan Johnston is free (Praise The Lord for that!) couldn't we try & get the cell 'mission' aired on one of the offical (Lee, BBC, ALW or RUG) websites somewhere? Someone MUST still have it!

So I have been to the Keith Camp and Ellis Mansions and there seems to be support (as well as the initial support from the Lovelees) for the idea.

So does anyone have any ideas for how to go about it?

Find out which beeb dept runs their YouTube Channel & email them en masse?

Great idea! I wonder if one really well-worded email would be better than lots, which could just get their backs up. As long as we make it clear that lots of people support the idea, it should still have the same effect. I kind of doubt they'll agree to it though.

Yeah, but then how woulld they know it's lots of people that agree & not just one person saying they've got backup?

Could we work out some kind of agreed wording & then have everyone add their name ONLY in Lieu of signing & post it say on the Joseph BBC site? Is that still running?

Emailing RUG may also be a good place to start. I can't remember who it was but someone emailed a question to them and got a response that included the comment that the Lovelees are going to really enjoy the show - so they are obviously aware of DS there. I'm not saying that's enough but it would seem that they are aware of an enthusiastic online community who would really like to see it. Am guessing that they may say it's a matter for the Beeb though as they will own the footage - ?

Yup we should agree on a wording of a letter/email and then send it to the BBC with everyone's name on it (we can even say that we got together to send one letter rather than bombard them with lots of them!)

I will have a think about the wording now and can post a draft of it up here later and we can make changes/tweaks etc as a group...

The website is still up but i don't think they are doing anything with it...

Should we get say a 'kitten' to do the wording so that no 'interested parties' can claim bias?

Orwe could do it as a group - I don't mind writing out a basic template and then we can edit it together...

Think we'd need a template anyway, so I'd say "Go that far & we'll see what comes of it" A draft can't hurt anyway.

OK here is a rough draft which I have basically made up off the top of my head. Feel free to suggest revisions/edits/tweaks etc..

To whom it may concern,

This email is in regards to the Any Dream Will Do Show which aired a few months ago on BBC 1. During the series, the remaining Josephs were set a 'mission' each week.

During the show aired on Saturday June 2nd the 'mission' which was due to be aired included scenes where the four contestants were locked in Clink Jail and sing. However, the mission was not aired as the VT was deemed inappropriate whilst the BBC reporter Alan Johnson was still being held hostage in Gaza.

Since the conclusion of the series Alan Johnson has been freed by his captors and there have been a growing number of fans of the show who have been expressing an interest in viewing this unaired footage.

Therefore, in response to the high interest we have felt the need to email and enquire whether there were any plans to release the VT to the general public in some format - whether it be on the BBC's Any Dream Will Do website or on the official BBC YouTube portal.

Any information regarding this issue will be gratefully recieved and we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

The DS ADWD FANS (Insert names here!)

What do you guys think?

Neutral tone, doesn't push any particular Joseph, that will help.

I like it just noticed that you've spelt "gratefully" "greatfully"... the former is correct

but apart from that, thumbs up, sounds very professional

I like it-where are you going to email it to?
How will we sign it-with our DS names?!

Great draft mel, but isn't it Alan Johnston, rather than Johnson? Also the first sentence in the paragraph starting 'During the show' doesn't make sense... I'm not sure whether there are words missing, or whether you meant 'sang' instead of 'sing'?

Well from the newpaper reports I managed to grab up quickly his name is printed as Johnson - but I can double check that. EDIT: Have been back and checked and it is indeed Johnston - trust me to pick up the one newspaper article that had a misprint!

I think I probably did mean sang - I think I changed the structure of that sentance and didn't notice that I hadn't changed that word.

Mel - that sounds ideal. Small point - you've spelt received slightly wrong.

Would it be better going somewhere at the BBC? It's just that I can't see how it's a decision that RUG could make.

why am i not suprised with mel staring this thread !!

sounds good i along with everyone else would love to see our 4 favorite boys in loincloths more !! lol

draft sounds good as it sounds mature and professional not like some child has written it ! i like AR like the fact that it isn't biast at all !! but someone mentioned how we are to sign it .................... don't you think real names would be better as it keeps with the mature tones and may create a bigger impact ! these are just ideas though

I'm happy with the draft too. I also think real names would be better.
