Couldn't see this posted tonight, so thought I'd do it!

Tyrone spots a man outside the Duckworths' acting suspiciously. The stranger heads around the corner so Tyrone hurries over the street and lets himself into the house. He is surprised when he meets the man at the back entrance being greeted by Jack and Vera who introduce him as their grandson, Paul.

They are delighted to see him as he asks to stay for a few days to help look after them, but Tyrone is suspicious of the new tenant. Later Paul boasts to Tyrone that he is pocketing Jack's money instead of placing a bet. Will Tyrone tell Jack about his grandson?

The factory girls are feeling hungover and give Joanne another warning when she speaks defiantly to Carla. Sean asks Liam how Carla is managing life without Paul and he comments she seems to have cheered up since Rosie arrived. Carla asks Rosie to make up individual files for her employees. She presents Carla with Joanne's file and she sacks Joanne on the spot. How will Joanne and the other girls react.

Liz is regretting speaking to Linda and so is becoming increasingly paranoid. She asks Violet to take charge of the brewery delivery this morning in case it is Derek. When Vernon takes a call on his mobile she becomes very concerned about who it is much to Vernon's bewilderment. Will the call be from Linda?

Sally and Kevin spend the day together shopping.

An average episode tonight.

I think Carla is great in charge of the factory but i felt sorry for Joanne at the end when she got sacked, she may not be a great character, but i still felt sorry for her.

Tyrone was so sweet trying to look out for Jack and Vera. Jack and Vera's grandson does sound quite an intriguing character and I think there is more to him than meets the eye.

I liked David winding up Sarah in the salon. Jason really did stand up to him outside the Kabin didn't he?!

I wasn't too interested in the Liz stuff, same goes with the Sally/Kevin scenes.

5/10

I'm NOT loving Carla at the moment, why do they always make the rich b**chs- so evil...

I would understand Carla finding any reason to get rid of Janice but why does she feel threatened by Joanne- is she an easy target, is it because she bedded Liam....why??

Joanne has become uncharacteristically mouthy since she came back, especially to Carla.

To her face, yes.

Janice and Kelly are always like that though, Joanne used to be quiet and sort of shy.
I suppose it's just part of the getting rid story.

Long live Queen Carla! She was fabulous tonight.

Good to see the Duckies taking centre stage for a change. Let's have a proper storyline instead of all the silliness. Bring back Terry as well!

I feel bad for the character Joanne, they never really made anything of her. At least Violet had some proper stories! The main story Joanne had saw her off the screens for what seemed like an age!

So is she really off, or is there a chance that Liam might fight for her to return...with his 40% share

Carla was brilliant tonight as usual. Loved sacking Joanne and using Rosie.... I can imagine her taking Rosie under her wing, actually.

Liz really bored me. I'm just not interested in that story, but Sally and Kevin was nice.

Liked the David scenes where he was winding up Sarah... and then Jason pushing him into the wall!

Tyrone was sweet

I really hope that Liam regains control of the factory- it will end up being a sweatshop if Carla has her way...

Don't like the Duckie's grandson. Tyronne should find a way to grass him up..

Joanne has been walked round with a flashing ' Sack me' sign all week

All in all an OK episode.

I wonder how Leannes getting on

I dont really like the character of carla in the show, well not so much lately as i feel she has completely changed since what happened with paul. although, it might just be her way of dealing with it all.

i've heard she goes out with one of paul's mates or something like that though. surely she wouldnt if she still liked him? :S

Yeah it was Grange Hill he played Baz the lad that died on the football pitch.

Loved Carla again tonight, can see her taking Rosie under her wing especially as tonight she thanked Rosie for waiting for Liam to go before she gave her Joanna's file.

Paul, the grandson, made a point of saying he is a qualified chef. Could this be leading to him "saving" Leanne's restaurant?

If Carla's Paul hadn't been killed off it could have been confusing with two Pauls!

She's had TWO storylines in 3 years! One getting together with Jason, which was literally when she first arrived in October 2004, and one getting together with Jamie and losing the baby, around Christmas 2006. Two year gap between storylines. That's the problem with being a barmaid, you're just there behind the bar you don't tend to get actual storylines to star in.

This last one is her third storyline.

Didn't Rosie start working after Joanne? If they don't need to pay Rosie just to be Carla's side kick and wind up Sally and get rid of a knicker sower. Didn't Joanne get taken back on as they got loads more orders and Carla got them all working on a Sunday?

Rosie was taken on after Joanne, but in a different capacity - not shop floor. It was Hayley that took Joanne back on, Carla didn't agree or disagree really. Just sort of 'we'll see'.

Yes, Hayley took Joanne on but Liam OKed it when he returned. This still doesn't explain why one minute Carla got them all working on a Sunday then next minute she's sacking Joanne as there's not enough work.

Besides ...
Spoiler

I guess so, but these storylines gave us a proper insight into her character. With Joanne- the last big storyline for her - saw her off the screens.
